Overview / Responsibilities

Wood Environment & Infrastructure Solutions has summer/term opportunities in our Edmonton office for Students and/or Junior Engineers/Geologists (in Training) with Geotechnical or Geological backgrounds:

Work could include :

Geotechnical:

 

  • Undertake geotechnical investigations
  • Providing support to PM's and senior engineers in a range of geotechnical assignments that may include analytical, technical, field/lab and reporting. Projects may include routing studies and geo-hazards, stability assessments, heavy industrial foundations, dams, mining, tunneling or geo-environmental projects
  • Related reporting and documentation


Geological:

 

 

  • Undertake geological related work / investigation
  • Delivery of various assignments that may include core-logging of bedrock encountered in Alberta including the McMurray (oilsand) Formation , field investigation, laboratory testing, and earthworks construction monitoring
  • Geological interpretation and modeling
  • Related reporting and documentation

 


Skills / Qualifications

 

 

 

 

  • University degree (or in progress) in geotechnical, geological, or civil engineering; Master's degree an asset
  • Registered or eligible for registration as an Engineer in Training (EIT) with Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA)
  • Preferred industry experience in providing practical geological/geotechnical engineering services relevant to a variety of projects (petrochemical, transportation, civil municipal, commercial development, resource industries, utilities, building structures)
  • Strong written and oral communication skills in English
  • Must be well organized, have the ability to manage and prioritize several assignments at one time, deliver on time and on budget
