Overview / Responsibilities

Wood Environment & Infrastructure Solutions is looking for a Finance Manager (FM) to join our North Regional Leadership team as a true business partner to our Operations. This position can be based in any of our North region offices (Virginia up to Portland, Maine), with flexibility to work remotely.

The FM is a critical role responsible for liaising between regional leadership and group/corporate finance functions. The FM provides guidance and feedback to drive operational performance through interpreting and analyzing financial data, operating plans and standards that support our architectural, engineering and consulting services which including design, planning, environmental, construction and program management.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide financial and business decision leadership for core and new business opportunities
  • Work closely with operations and regional leadership team as an adviser and highly valued partner
  • Collaborate with Regional Vice President and Operations Managers on execution of business strategies, providing support for key business decisions
  • Participate in monthly strategy and operating meetings
  • Collaborate with leadership team on development and preparation of annual profit plan and forecasting reports
  • Develop, analyze, and interrupt financial statements and reports for region
  • Continually improve systems, processes, and procedures to effectively support region, operations profit center, regional leader, and finance
  • Work closely with operations to ensure group A/R and WIP is being monitored and corrective action is taken as necessary
  • Support the preparation of budgets, including the review of budget proposals and preparation of necessary supporting documentation and justification,
  • Support the development of accurate monthly forecasts, including the review of forecast proposals and preparation of supporting documentation and justification,
  • Conduct financial reviews of on-going projects within the region; work closely with project accounting to understand project status and performance on all significant projects in the region
  • Lead cash management and profit enhancement initiatives
  • Ensure bonding and insurance is obtained and maintained
  • Assist Tax department with local municipality tax issues
  • Oversee billing issuance, collection, and overdue receivables
  • Manage financial compliance to ensure rigorous and ethical standards of compliance with external requirements (IFRS, GAAP, IAS, FARS, ERISA, and IRS) and internal company policies
  • Drive focus on financial risk management and support development and implementation of policies/procedures. Ensure clear and concise communication of standards
  • Other activities, duties, and responsibilities as assigned


Skills / Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field coupled with a min. of 7 years in financial position
  • Must have previous relevant operations finance experience in the construction, A/E or EPC industry experience
  • Advanced MS Excel skills, proficient with financial system applications, BST, Hyperion Planning, Oracle, and/or SAP and MS Office
  • Ability to effectively work across functional lines and organizational levels
  • Applies business maturity to synthesize complex concepts into actionable information
  • Strong analytical skills including a working knowledge of key financial metrics critical to a consulting and engineering organization
  • Demonstrate exceptional interpersonal, relationship development, analytical, problem-solving and communication skills with the ability to present at all levels within the business
  • Ability to clearly communicate ideas and recommended actions to all levels of the organization, using negotiation, persuasion, and discretion to accomplish objectives and deliver results
  • Ability to drive projects to completion in a complex, deadline driven environment
  • Demonstrate leadership qualities, excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Willingness to conduct limited travel to offices in the Region
