Wood Environment & Infrastructure is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to join our Phoenix Design Center. Candidate will serve as the Electrical and I&C engineer-of-record (EOR) on a variety of commercial, municipal, and government sector projects, such as water/wastewater treatment plants, pump stations, and federal facilities.

Responsibilities:
  • Serve as Electrical and I&C discipline lead on projects, assuming responsibility for the production of contract documents, including plans and specifications, calculations, technical memorandums and reports
  • Effectively coordinate the electrical and I&C designs with multi-discipline project teams, utility owners and clients
  • Lead electrical engineering designs and electrical equipment upgrades for: low and medium voltage facility power distribution systems, switchgear, motor control centers, drives, wiring diagrams, lighting systems, emergency and standby systems, receptacles, conduits, cable trays, duct banks and telephone/communications systems
  • Perform and/or oversee the development of calculations; including arc-flash analysis, short-circuit analysis, circuit sizing, feeders, load and voltage drop, and electrical equipment sizing
  • Participate in the development of piping and instrumentation diagrams and control strategies
  • I&C design responsibilities may include SCADA, control systems, control panels, instrument specifications, development of network architectures, PLC design, control schematics
  • Knowledge of hazardous/classified area design, fire detection, and protection system design Provide engineering services during construction including RFI responses, submittal reviews, and site visits
  • Ensure compliance of designs with all applicable codes and regulations
  • Perform technical reviews for electrical and I&C designs developed by other teams
  • Support business opportunities, proposal preparation, and interviewing
  • Prepare the electrical sections of proposals, scopes of work, and engineering man-hour estimates
  • Monitor discipline scope, schedule, and budget against the project plan
  • Effectively manage the execution of work and electrical team members to prioritize and balance competing project demands, and to resolve issues in a team environment
  • Mentor other engineers and design personnel in technical excellence and career growth
  • May be asked to support heavy industrial, mining and/or manufacturing projects
  • Position is based in Phoenix but may require periodic travel to client and projects sites


Skills / Qualifications

Required Qualifications:
  • ABET accredited Bachelor of Science or Master of Science in Electrical Engineering
  • Have an active PE license in Arizona, or the ability to obtain within 3 months of hire
  • Ability to obtain NCEES registration for licensure in other states
  • Minimum 15 years' experience in the design of low and medium voltage electrical distribution systems and control systems for various types of facilities
  • Experience in developing CSI format specifications
  • Experience in developing Electrical and I&C construction plans, specification, cost estimates and schedules
  • Experience in conducting Electrical and I&C independent technical design reviews
  • Comprehensive knowledge and application of the National Electric Code
  • Knowledge and understanding of NFPA 70E, 101, and 820
  • Ability to collaborate with multi-discipline project teams
  • Effective written and oral communications skills
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision on medium to large electrical power systems on various types of facilities
  • Must pass drug test, fit-for-duty medical exam, background check, and must have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the Company's driving (MVR) policy.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Registration in multiple states and/or NCEES registration
  • LEED certification
  • Knowledge of applicable design standards, such as API, ISA, PIP, IEC, IEEE, ISO, NACE
  • Experience using SKM or ETAP or ESDA
  • Ability to select and apply appropriate engineering software for use on projects
  • Experience in Design-Build and/or CMAR project execution
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in the design of power and control systems for water/wastewater treatment and pumping systems
  • Experience in industrial power and control systems design
  • Self-motivated and enthusiastic, willingness to learn, ability to multi-task and work independently
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and/or Revit


Physical Demands:
  • Work is typically performed in an office setting
  • While performing site visits or inspections, may require bending, stooping, climbing, and carrying
