Wood Singapore is currently looking for a Principal Automation Engineer to carry out the Automation Design scope of work on our multi-disciplinary and multinational FEED, EPC and PMC projects for local and international clients across the Pharmaceuticals Industries (API, Biotech etc.).
We are looking for an experienced Engineer, with a broad range of Automation skills who is ready to step up and lead small teams of engineers and designers. The right candidate will be highly motivated, able to work independently, and have demonstrable leadership qualities. Sound technical knowledge coupled with leadership and decision making skills are required to ensure the delivery of challenging project and client targets.
JOB OBJECTIVE Responsible for the execution of the Pharma Automation Design and engineering portion of a multi-discipline Concept Design, Basic Design & EPCm Scope of work on one or more projects / work scopes. Overall responsibility involves Leading a Team of Automation engineers to undertake Automation Engineering Design activities while meeting HSSE, quality, schedule, and budget performance goals. Sound technical knowledge coupled with leadership and decision making skills are required to ensure the delivery of challenging projects and client targets. Contributes to delivery of Automation Design and Engineering excellence through: • Driving technical excellence on the assigned scope(s) of work • Managing and leading, supporting and supervising the Automation engineering teams on the assigned scope(s) of work. • Management of key stakeholders in the execution and delivery of contracted activities. • Developing and retaining motivated and competent people. • Driving safety by design • Driving and leading on opportunities for innovation
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Driving technical excellence and assurance. • Carry out Automation engineering design activities, following client and Wood's standards and procedures to schedule and budget • Develop, review, and take responsibility for the quality and accuracy of Automation engineering deliverables. - Ensure Wood and Client Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality procedures are followed and that a high standard of safety is achieved in all associated work • Remain up to date with the latest technical developments in your fields of expertise • Demonstrate, provide and develop effective technical solutions for specific project issues • Provide technical expertise and support to business winning activity as required • Perform Technical assurance review of automation engineering activity on projects and support internal development & continuous improvement activity as required • Identifies and mitigates areas of risk and improvement opportunities • Ensure the delivery of challenging project and client targets using sound technical knowledge and decision making skills Managing and leading, supporting and supervising the multidiscipline engineering team • Plan, organize, direct, control and evaluate the activities and operations of a Automation engineering team • Assist in the management of recruitment, selection, performance management of Team • Ensuring appropriately resourced and competent personnel on Project/Contract Management of key stakeholders in the execution and delivery of contracted activities. • Responsible for the overall Automation engineering content for assigned contracts/projects • Manage and direct Automation Team efficiently • Participates in solving complex technical problems. • Accountable for the efficient planning and management of resouces, identifying ad pursuing opportunities for margin improvement, including HVEC utilisation. Undertaking the role of process owner • Develop and implement policies, standards and procedures for the Pharma Automation technical work performed in the department • Conduit for regulatory framework, legislation changes, initiatives and industry technology developments.
Skills / Qualifications
A successful career path with visible expertise in Pharmaceuticals (API, Biotech and others) gained through project execution with a major Multi-national contractor. Minimum Qualifications: • Electrical /Electronic Engineering or Instrumentaion and System Engineering degree (minimum) Minimum Experience: 15+ years progressive experience in discipline engineering • About 5+ years of supervisory experience of a sizable team Role-Specific Skills and Knowledge: • Extensive knowledge of designing, implementing and supporting pharmaceutical manufacturing automation solutions. Batch 88 experience is required. - Good knowledge of international codes (IEC, BS, ISA etc.) & industry standards (FDA 21 CFR Part 11, ISA S88, cGAMP etc) followed in engineering of Automation in Pharma plants. • Well versed in Concept Design, Basic Design and Detail engineering of pharmaceutical industries • Broad working knowledge of automation engineering • Hands on experience in supplier evaluation & supplier document review • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills Personal Attributes • A believer in corporate values, behaviours and ethics • Strong persuasion and influencing skills • Ability to lead a team of cultural diversity • Looks for continuous improvement of own skill and knowledge
