Overview / Responsibilities

Wood is currently recruiting for a Elevator Tech with extensive experience in the oil and gas petrochemical industry.
  • Perform routine and preventative maintenance on personnel/freight elevators (hydraulic, traction, and rack and pinion elevators)
  • Troubleshoot most problems with minimal assistance at job sites
  • Report accurate data back to department Supervisor for parts and recommendations
  • Supervise crew of Helpers
  • Ensure the safety, reliability and dependability in compliance with our A17 code for elevators in compliance with OSHA regulations
  • Develop excellent relationships with customers
  • Possess knowledge of safety issues, concerns, or new technology for improvements
  • Respond to emergency calls both during normal business hours & after hours for service and/or repair
  • Perform annual testing on lift equipment
  • Pay detailed attention to work orders that are provided by the office for all jobs
  • Read electrical schematics for troubleshooting
  • Install or repair elevator doors, cables, motors, and control systems
  • Locate malfunctions in brakes, motors, switches, and control systems etc.
  • Must be able to use all standard tools and instruments of the elevator trade, including computers, solid state logic probes, computerized electronic diagnostic equipment, meggars, ammeters, voltmeters, tachometers, and numerous power hand tools and other test equipment considered tools of the trade to diagnose problems
  • Able to adjust door mechanisms, and safety controls
  • Test newly installed equipment to ensure that it meets specifications
  • Keep service records of all maintenance and repair tasks

Authorization to work permanently in the U.S. without sponsorship required.

Skills / Qualifications

  • Knowledgeable on various types of brakes and how to adjust
  • Able to adjust door mechanisms, and safety controls
  • Knowledgeable in rigging
  • Knowledgeable in inspecting and measuring wire ropes and installing wire ropes on elevators
  • Knowledgeable in resealing hydraulic elevator seals and able to diagnose hydraulic valve problems and knows how to set up and adjust
  • Knows how to set up car door operators and adjust for proper operation
  • Have the ability to lay out and fabricate metal parts
  • Test newly installed equipment to ensure that it meets specifications
  • Keep service records of all maintenance and repair tasks
  • Knowledge of electronics, PLCs, programming VFDs, changing parameters
  • Being on call and ready to assist
  • Physically able to complete job tasks
  • Basic math, reading, and mechanical skills
  • Detail oriented
  • Valid Driver's License, good driving record, and reliable transportation
  • Physical Demands Must be able to lift loads and climb stairs, ladders, scaffolding, and work around confined areas with piping and wiring obstructions as needed to access equipment
  • Requires moderate to heavy physical activity that includes the ability to lift and carry objects up to 50 lbs., bend, stoop, climb, balance, stand, and walk up to ten hours per day
  • Requires personal protective equipment such as hearing protection, safety shoes, and safety glasses
  • Must be able to deal with stressful situations and critical issues with diplomacy
  • Must be able to work effectively as part of a team, receiving direction, and planning time and productivity to meet deadlines
  • 3 plus years of experience in the industry
