Project Description:

Multi-year UK nuclear infrastructure programme for which Bechtel will provide PMO (including Project Management, Project Controls, Commercial, Safety, Quality and Regulatory Assurance leadership) services.

Role Overview:

  • Manage work process execution and assure technical adequacy in accordance with company, contract, and industry codes and standards.
  • Be accountable for error-free, high quality deliverables.
  • Manage work to schedule and budget targets using innovative methods to accelerate work when possible and using change control when needed.
  • Build an inclusive team environment where all are able and expected to contribute to the maximum of their capabilities. Provide leadership and mentoring to team members. Create meaningful goals working with team and ensure goals are met.
  • Plan and participate in cross discipline design reviews and ensure thorough impact reviews are performed for any proposed changes.
  • Reports to the workstream Project Manager, with a matrix reporting line to the PMO Lead.
  • Supported functionally from the Nuclear Security & Environmental GBU Manager of Engineering.
  • Works closely with Project Management, Supply Chain Management, Regulatory Affairs & Assurance as well as other supporting functions.
  • Works with all functions to develop packages for strategic partners. Supports tendering, evaluation, selection and negotiation processes.
  • Supports the development of a Strategic Integration Plan governing how Bechtel, the Strategic Partners and the Client will collaborate to deliver the project mission.
  • Continually supports Risk Management and Assumptions Management processes.
  • Accountable to report against schedule, including presentation of variance analysis.
  • Engages in Change Management protocols including Bechtel's Trend Programme.
  • Assists the Onboarding, Readiness & Transformation PM in monitoring performance against targets, objectives & commitments agreed with the Client.
  • Collaborates in Project Maturity Model development.
  • Support Business Case development.

Basic Qualifications

BSc/BEng or advanced Engineering degree from an accredited university or college.

Have experience in Engineering/Project Management for nuclear and/or other highly regulated industry.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • The position is open to United Kingdom (UK) Nationals only. UK/US dual citizens may be considered.
  • This position is also subject to a successful interview and agreement upon terms and conditions of employment. Candidate must be able to obtain an SC security clearance.
  • Experienced in EPC processes and across the whole project lifecycle.
  • Familiar with NEC form of contract - both from Contractor and Client side.
  • Experienced in supervision of contractors undertaking design or construction work.
  • Experienced in writing processes, procedures, strategies & plans.
  • Comprehensive understanding of EVMS and how to convey EVMS requirements into contract packages.
  • Excellent oral and written skills required for this role.
  • A team player, at ease within an integrated team environment.
  • A driven self-starter, confident, agile, articulate and capable of leading by example.
  • Committed to a Nuclear Safety Culture.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • The ideal candidate will have gained experience working in Design and/or Field Engineering over multiple projects.
  • Familiar with ISO44001 - collaborative business relationships.
  • Familiar with a systems engineering led approach to project delivery
  • Has previously worked with Tier 1 UK Defence Contractors or directly with MOD.
  • Understanding of highly regulated industries - including nuclear industry.
  • Integrated Team working / JV experience.
