About the opportunity

Our Water and Catchment Management sector provides a focus for advising our clients on delivering sustainable drainage, flood risk management and civil engineering solutions. Water and Catchment Management comprises in excess of 400 staff based in the UK and Europe, but with reach into the Middle East, Australasia and America.

To meet our growing UK business needs and future development aspirations we are looking for an Associate Director for Flood Risk Management in our Leeds office.

The successful person will become part of a respected and ambitious company with excellent career prospects and international opportunities.


You will be responsible for providing quality assurance and governance over FRM/ Appraisal projects delivered by the Leeds office primarily and coordinating with other regional experts. As a subject matter expert, you will support sales and delivery teams on scoping and reviewing projects to ensure they are focused and deliver the highest quality.

You will contribute to the development of skills and training programmes within the office and wider business.

You will provide support to the team lead to identify and pursue new business and support sales opportunities across the business.


  • BEng/ MEng Engineering or BSc Geography/Environmental Discipline
  • Extensive proven ability of quality assurance and technical oversight of FCERM Appraisal Projects and major planning projects
  • Technical oversight and assurance of flood risk management projects to support of major UK infrastructure projects, including but not limited to roads, airports, railways, and building development
  • Detailed knowledge and experience of the UK regulatory requirements for flood risk management and assessment Demonstrable experience of technical coordination of multi-disciplinary teams
  • Proven ability in writing and reviewing technical reports and adept in conveying key messages in a simple and clear manner from complex technical documentation
  • Excellent presentation skills with experience of presenting to existing and potential clients, to regulators and stakeholders on behalf of clients, at meetings and within working teams
  • Experience in solution development and support of new tender opportunities, writing proposals and estimating costs, including for new services and offerings
  • Chartered through a relevant Professional Institution
