The 2nd Officer/DPO is the OIM/Master's representative on the bridge and is responsible for the safe navigation/DP operations of the drillship and for complying with the International Collision Regulations.
Ensure all navigation and DP operations are carried out according to Company policies and procedures, regulatory requirements, OIM/Master orders and good safe working practice.
To ensure conformance to Company policies and local and international laws relating to the operation of the vessel and strict compliance with current pollution regulations.
To supervise and maintain the DP watch to the highest standards when the vessel is on DP operations.
To assist SDPO in developing a WSOG in accordance with Vantage Operations Manual prior to commencing well operations.
To assist SDPO in developing an initial Watch Circle Analysis prior to commencing operations on well-site and to ensure that this is updated and communicated regularly as required with any weather or condition change.
To ensure all the DP & Bridge Logbooks and checklists are kept up-to-date with all relevant information entered.
To maintain bridge reading file and DP Rough Logbook when on-shift, so off-shift and on leave personnel know and understand what has been going on when they are not on the bridge/vessel.
To ensure navigation charts and publications corrected up to the most recent notice to mariners at all times - both electronic & paper charts.
