The primary responsibility of this position is to develop loss functions and work with other modelers to integrate those functions into frequency and severity models. Through research of the literature, or experimentation, this person will build understanding of how various perils, such as wind, hail, fire, flood or mechanical malfunction translate to damage and financial losses.

Employees in this role develop and evaluate expected loss functions for all property and perils under consideration of Palms Insurance. This position collaborates with other team members and external parties to refine and implement risk models. Employees will participate in pricing first-party, third-party and reinsurance products and programs. Through research, engineering report studies and construction method analysis, this role develops market-leading knowlege of risks and expected losses for wind, solar and battery assets ranging from distributed generation to utility scale.Job Duties & Responsibilities
- Develops expected loss functions for renewable energy facilities
- Reviews specific insurance and reinsurance opportunities to determine or validate expected losses
- Conducts research on potential and expected losses for emerging technologies
- Evaluates post-claim data to validate and improve risk models
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned
- Bachelor's- Engineering
- Experience: 3+Years
- Master's Degree
- Experience: 5+Years
- Certified Professional Engineer (PE)
