Job Summary:

Job purpose

  • Engineering Management of Upgrade scope. With particular reference to management and coordination of EPC contractors and engineering design houses.
  • To manage and assist the technical execution of engineering deliverables to enable procurement and construction to progress, using both technical expertise and experience in project engineering design and analysis.
  • Manage, aid and lead preparation of technical and TAR deliverables with close coordination with procurement and construction project personnel.
  • Manage the EPC contractor, survey scopes and assist with the estimation of cost and scheduling of project and EPC scopes of work
  • Manage a small team responsible for the design, engineering and quantification of upgrade scopes including obsolescence, replacement, upgrade, repair and Integrity of equipment.
  • To participate and cooperate with the Project team to enable successful delivery of the project using the client's HSEQ processes, procedures and best practices
  • Provide management, support, supervision and guidance to the Project team regarding all engineering and survey requirement
  • Manage the client and EPC contractor project resourcing and forecasting requirements to ensure client requirements and all interested parties are understood
  • Facilitate inter-company communication and distribution of workload to ensure project deliverables are met
  • Liaise with Integrity and Maintenance managers to ensure correct scope of work identification, quantification and interfaces are managed.
  • Ensure all engineering requirements for integrity and maintenance scopes are managed and integrated
  • Manage the Technical Query system and comply with the Project Management System (Pims)
  • Ensure all engineering work is properly planned and integrated into the overall project plan
  • Responsible for coordinating and ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery of engineering support to the Upgrade Project with close cooperation with the Engineering department. This includes management of change proposals/modifications and engineering requests.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that all activities, for which he/she is responsible, are carried out in conformance with rules and regulations, contractual requirements and the Management System Manual. In particular ensure that health and safety of personnel, environment and equipment is taken care of.
  • Coordinate engineering activities for the cooperation with the project team and Engineering department in Trondheim.
  • Keep updated on all relevant procedures and ensure that all modifications are progressed according to relevant procedure(s), specifically AP601.
  • Act as manager for engineering resources for the project in Aberdeen, including resource management and daily coordination
  • Ensure correct and timely involvement of company Technical Authorities.
  • Point of contact versus Engineering department to follow-up and coordination when engineers are involved both with regards to operational/technical support as well as ensuring involvement of Technical Authorities related to design changes
  • Establish and manage local UK engineering frame agreements with third parties, in alignment with the Engineering, HR and PSCM departments
  • Provide program manager with budget input and recommendations
  • Actively take part in improvement of work procedures, by giving inputs on company procedures
  • Contribute actively to good psychosocial working environment


Person Specifications:


  • Must have extensive EPC engineering project management experience in the brownfield environment which includes FPSOs.
  • Must have extensive experience in managing engineering design houses and in particular EPC design houses
  • Must have experience in managing multidisciplined teams in a project management environment and as part of a project task force
  • Must have experience in the delivery of modifications, integrity and combinations of both in a brownfield environment right through the project life cycle
  • Must have experience in managing the engineering inputs to hook up and commissioning in a brownfield or greenfield environment
  • Must have direct experience in technical management of completions management systems
  • Must have experience familiarity with engineering design standards, engineering processes and procedures associated with project delivery applicable to EPC design houses
  • Possess extensive experience in planning and integrating engineering deliverables into an engineering plan and integrating with other project plans
  • Familiar with and able to demonstrate a thorough knowledge of UK offshore legislation and engineering codes and practices applicable to this role.



An accredited qualification in a relevant technical discipline, ideally process, mechanical or electrical engineering.
