Role Outline/Responsibilities:

Client Overview:

As part of the Responsible Designer for the Hinkley Point C project, our Client provides Engineering Design support for the Balance of the Nuclear Island (BNI).

This role is a member of a large integrated team seconded into Client team focused on providing high quality design, engineering knowledge & expertise.

Assignment Scope:

An experienced steelwork engineer is required to support the steelworks (SW) pilot in the delivery of the SW programme.

As part of the SDLT (Site Design Liaison Team), under the Lead Engineer, the Steelwork Engineer will be responsible for modifying and adapting the design received from the Back Office, substantiating the adapted design of the secondary steel platforms within the Nuclear Island buildings on the Hinkley Point C project.

Working closely with the Client and the Clients Tier 1 Civils Contractor.

Main Activities:

As part of the Steel Work (SW) team, the engineer will assist in:
• Modifying steelwork platform designs compliant with the ETC-C, other relevant codes
• Maintaining Client QA procedures in delivering the SW design
• Working with the CAD designers in the preparation of the design drawings/models
• Managing engineering changes in line with company procedures
• Liaising with colleagues in Paris (Malakoff), France

Business Travel:

Occasional business trips to Bristol, UK / Paris, France.

Note2: Based on our Client site Monday to Friday - 40 hours per week

Note3: Travel and Subsistence weekly allowance would be paid for this role (not paid if residing in the Bridgwater area)

Note4: There is no parking available at HPC site. Free buses are supplied from either Bristol City Centre or from the Park & Ride facilities located off the M5 Junction 23 & 24

Note5: Service Incentive - on completion of 12-month continuous service in post - there is a salary uplift of 5% paid

• Degree qualified in appropriate technical discipline
• Experienced structural steel design engineer
• Experience in the design of seismically qualified steel platforms and structures from concept to detailed design delivery
• Experienced in the use of 3D modelling and structural analysis tools
• Navisworks
• RSTAB (or similar)
• Good communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work in a team as well as on own initiative
• Results focused with the ability to meet commitments & deadlines
• Highly organised with attention to detail
• Ability to identify continuous improvements
• Fluent in English - written & verbal

• Knowledge / Understanding of PWRs would be an advantage
• Experience in previous EPR or other nuclear projects
• Experience of working in a fast pace engineering project environment
• French language skills - written & verbal

Software & Tools:
• Navisworks
• RSTAB (or similar)
• MS Office & Outlook

Security Clearance:
• BPSS level clearance required
