Jacobs are recruiting for a Primavera Database administrator who is responsible for all P6 instances across the business. The role supports the planning manager in:
  • defining and implementing the necessary controls to ensure that the performance, integrity and security of the database is maintained
  • planning and developing the functional use of the database and troubleshooting issues on behalf of others
Accountabilities - Sole or joint Accountabilities The Primavera Database Administrator will ensure that:
  • data remains consistent across the database
  • data is clearly defined
  • users can access data effectively
  • there is provision for data security and recovery control
  • establish the needs of users and monitor user access and security
  • control access permissions and privileges and implement a regular review cycle
  • monitor performance of the front-end database
  • provide the link between the front-end users and IT for back end functionality and performance
  • support the development of the database to suit the evolving needs of the business
  • support the planning manager in the upgrade, installation and testing of new versions of the databases
  • maintain the data standards within the database, ensuring that users are adhering to process and procedure
  • write database documentation such as user manuals to support the proper application of the database amongst users
  • working with IT, develop, manage and test backup and recovery plans from the front-end user perspective
  • develop and implement an archiving strategy of database information
  • maintain relationships with planners within the organisation to monitor needs of the database and adapt the control measures accordingly
  • develop and implement a change control process to track change requests from users on database attributes
  • support the planning manager in developing and implementing database integrity checks (including the use of software such as Acumen Fuse to conduct integrity checks)


Candidates for this position must be able to demonstrate the following:
  • proven and demonstrable planning skills including in depth knowledge of Primavera Software
  • excellent problem solving and analytical skills
  • a willingness to keep up to date with developments in new technology
  • the ability to create and maintain strong working relationships with the planning team and IT
