We are looking for a passionate and dedicated Mechanical Engineer in Columbus, Ohio. As part of our team, you'll have the chance to work on projects that bring innovative solutions to our municipal clients' water and wastewater challenges locally and worldwide.

You'll be charged with designing building mechanical systems for water and wastewater treatment plants, pump stations, and support structures for the industry and creating energy performance models for a wide range of sectors that include data centers, pharmaceutical facilities, wafer fabrication facilities, water and wastewater facilities, office buildings, Universities and Colleges, multi-unit residential buildings, hospitals, retail buildings, and sports arenas.

This position represents a rare opportunity to work not only with HVAC and Plumbing design but also with sustainable design and renewable energy systems. You'll use energy modeling and numerical analysis to guide design decisions that result cost effective and energy efficient solutions to our Clients. You'll work directly with our team of Jacobs' Facility Modeling and Simulation Analytics Group to provide engineering modeling, simulation, visualization, testing, and design programming services for world class Clients locally and across the globe.

Qualifications:

Here's What You'll Need:
•Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering
•Mechanical Engineering experience
•Coursework with an emphasis on thermodynamics and HVAC system design.
•Engineering in Training (EIT)
•Experience with water/wastewater equipment for municipal or industrial clients
•Advanced MS Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
•The ability to calculate the annual energy production and payback of renewable energy systems
•Experience, or ability to develop experience, producing energy models for submission to USGBC to obtain LEED certification
•knowledgeable in the local building codes, NFPA 820, Title 24, Unified Facilities Criteria, ASHRAE 90.1, and AHSRAE 62.1.
•Experience, or ability to develop experience, developing HVAC and Plumbing sizing calculations with minimal supervision
•Experience, or ability to develop experience, developing HVAC and Plumbing sizing calculations with minimal supervision
•Excellent oral and written communication skills
•Strong numerical analysis skills
•Proof of United States citizenship

Ideally, here's what you'll also have:
•Master of Science
•Professional Engineer-PE license, or ability to obtain one if recent grad
•LEED AP and/or BEMP certification
•Programming experience (Visual Basic, C++, Python)
•CAD experience (AutoCAD, Revit, Sketchup)
•Energy modeling software experience (eQUEST, Trane Trace, EnergyPlus
•Some working knowledge of broad range of HVAC systems including, chilled water cooling systems, hydronic heating systems, air and water side heat recovery systems, and air and water side economization systems
