ENGIE are recruiting for a Business Development Director - District Heating to be home based This is permanent, full time role, working 37.5 hours a week. On offer is a competitive salary and company benefits package.
The key purpose of this role is to assume overall responsibility for business development activities and team management in the Urban Energy and Renewables sector. You will lead the product development of the decarbonised heat solution for the ENGIE decentralised energy offering.
You will be required to develop new opportunities via different channels (internal and external), the development and management of all sales collateral, overall management of the bid process for all development including the growth of existing schemes, negotiation of new contracts and full and complete handover of new contracts to Projects and operational teams.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
  • To lead business development activity in the Urban Energy business sector within the ENGIE Futures Division.
  • Responsibility for the development of new decentralised energy business in the Urban Energy sector, from initial concept or contact, through tendering to financial close.
  • To innovate and develop commercially viable Zero/Low-Carbon Decentralised Energy network offerings
  • Responsible for the line management of all the business developers within the Urban Energy Business Development Team
  • Manage the Governance of all Business Development opportunities from concept through to contract signature.
  • Support the development of propositions which include solutions and services from other parts of ENGIE as part of a holistic and complete energy offering to UK towns and cities
  • Oversee the bid process from initial interest through to the development of detailed proposals for new schemes, including managing interfaces and resources from other parts of energy services (engineering, finance etc.)
  • Manage the ENGIE governance process for submission of bids and entering into contracts
  • Negotiate energy services and associated district energy and energy supply agreements with customers in close liaison with central commercial and legal teams.
  • Providing financial forecasting and sales reporting via Salesforce or similar CRM tool
  • Developing positive working relationships with key customers, suppliers,
  • business partners and trade associations.
  • Acting as a role model whilst promoting ENGIE core competencies and behaviours.
  • To support Business Development and growth in energy transition services
  • Provide added value services to FM, ENGIE supply contracts and direct sales

Required Qualifications, Skills or Experience:

  • Minimum of degree level in a relevant subject or equivalent
  • Experience of successfully bidding and closing complex decentralised energy deals
  • Local Authority and District Heating experience is essential
  • Manage commercial complexity, including financing, complex contractual negotiation and senior and varied stakeholder management
  • Well-connected within the decentralised energy sector
  • Proven knowledge of the energy services market
  • Ability to build positive relationships at all levels
  • Strong presentation, influencing and motivational skills
