Job Summary

AECOM Water Resources Design Department is actively seeking a highly talented H&H Team Leader for immediate employment in the Katy Texas (Houston) office. The appropriately qualified applicant will be able to demonstrate an established career in water resources, specific to surface water design and analysis and transportation drainage. This position requires leading client development and proposal activities.

The position is for an individual willing to help grow a successful existing Water Resources Department and requires managing civil engineers performing hydrologic and hydraulic modeling (H&H), conducting design calculations, preparing design drawings and specifications, design and permitting reports, preparing cost and schedule estimates supporting a wide range of State, Federal, and local stormwater conveyance projects. Additional duties include overseeing and mentoring junior staff in stormwater management and conveyance design, hydrologic & hydraulic studies, erosion control, plan preparation, cost estimating, and report writing.

The appropriately qualified applicant will be able to demonstrate an established career with strong client contacts, relationships and engineering experience with Local and Federal water resource clients in the Greater Houston Area.

The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:
  • Acts as primary point of contact for AECOM's water resources civil design and transportation stormwater capabilities with clients and has full responsibility for project delivery
  • Plans, directs, and supervises operations included in large, complex projects or programs
  • Performs independent technical reviews of engineering reports and designs
  • May be responsible for Project teams that include 10 or more members often representing multiple disciplines or business lines
  • Provide leadership in the areas of design, analysis, and construction of various water resources / heavy civil infrastructure design projects
  • Active involvement in business and staff development across the greater Houston Area, and collaboration with other AECOM offices within Texas and AECOM's Central Region.
  • Working with regional Water Business Line leadership on local and regional initiatives.
  • Be a catalyst for growing AECOM's local water resources civil design and transportation stormwater head count and gross revenue.
Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in civil or transportation engineering or related field
  • 8+ years of drainage related transportation experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's Degree in Civil or Transportation Engineering
  • 10+ years of drainage related transportation experience, including PS&E design experience
  • 6+ years of TXDOT experience including Design Build
  • Professional Engineer (PE) in the State of Texas or ability to obtain via reciprocity
  • Demonstrated TXDOT drainage / stormwater design and project management experience on a variety of projects along with associated TXDOT precertifications.
  • Demonstrated project management experience with projects involving Greater Houston municipalities and regulatory agencies.
  • MicroStation and Geopak proficient
  • Software experience HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, HY-8, GEOPAK Drainage, and GEOPAK Road
  • Projects in the Edwards Aquifer.
  • Experienced with proposal development, client presentations and relationship development
  • Demonstrated success in achieving scope, schedule, and budget goals on a large-scale transportation project
