Position Specific Description

NextEra Energy's Power Generation Division is looking for a Principal Engineer to support the reliability function within the solar and storage organization in Engineering and Operations Support Services (EOSS). This engineer will report directly to the General Manager of the Solar and Storage organization.


The principal engineer will own and be accountable for a number of key tasks


  • Coordinate the onboarding of new solar and storage sites working with the year one team, Maximo team, IT team and E&C. This includes ensuring all the available tags are in the system and available to ROCC and setting up the Maximo hierarchies, PMs and RCs.
  • Represent the solar and storage team at the monthly MOPR meeting. As part of this, the engineer has to be able to explain all the numbers involved and discuss in detail the cause of the issues that drove ALF and EFOR. This will involve coordination with other reliability engineers on the team.
  • Serve as the facilitator for bringing the reliability function together. Ensure that lessons learned in reliability are transferred between all team members.
  • Develop PPA and warranty monitoring dashboards that are required to track the performance of the solar and storage fleet.
  • Serve as the single POC for the IT team to ensure continuous progress is made in automation of data analysis and event response in the solar and storage fleet.

  • Other responsibilities include but may not be limited to:

  • Address data requests that come in from leadership and other teams in a timely manner.
  • Perform data analysis to support event response as needed at times the team is stretched.
  • Lead initiatives as needed to improve the state of the fleet.

  • Preferred Qualifications
    • 2+ years of on the job experience in reliability engineering, demonstrated either within Nextera or outside.
    • Green belt certified
    • Experience with Power BI and creating dashboards
