Florida Power & Light has an immediate need for an Environmental Specialist who will work closely with Power Delivery's Engineering & Technical Services and Central Maintenance & Construction organizations, in addition to providing environmental operational compliance support for NextEra Energy Transmission (NEET) projects.
The applicant must have the ability to provide multifaceted and comprehensive environmental compliance support of construction projects, perform field assessments and site inspections, and troubleshoot environmental non-compliance events. Applicant must have strong communication skills with the ability to interact effectively (email/phone/field/office) with internal management as well as local, state, and federal agency representatives, internal and external subject matter experts, stakeholders, and environmental organizations in support of assigned projects.
The applicant must maintain current knowledge of pertinent national, state, and local environmental policies and regulations, and company policies, to help ensure strict environmental compliance. Other tasks will include project coordination, planning, budget and schedule support, and determining and mitigating environmental risks.
The job is located in Jupiter, Florida. Some travel (Post-COVID) may be required within Florida (FPL) and possibly within the United States (NEET).Job Overview

- Provides environmental permitting and compliance technical support to ensure compliance with all laws and regulations
- Identifies and mitigates environmental risks
- Supports root cause analysis of environmental events
- Coordinates environmental due diligence
- Coordinates oversight of environmental compliance
- Supports environmental permitting
- Provides project management support
- Communicates effectively about environmental permitting and issues
- Provides recommended solutions to environmental challenges to minimize environmental impact
- Develops environmental processes, procedures and environmental awareness training
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned
