A vacancy has arisen for a Business Manager to be responsible and accountable for the safety performance, profitability and development of our Shetland business. Reporting to the Regional Director, you will lead and promote safe working practices and initiatives within the workforce and provide operational leadership and direction to ensure Peterson meets and exceeds the delivery of service level agreements with our customers. Crucially, you will also drive top line growth and secure new business from a range of different sectors including oil and gas, renewables and bulk aggregates. As such, a key aspect of this role is having the natural drive and energy to succeed and break into new markets.

To be considered for this position, you will have significant experience operating at a similar level and managing a demanding workload with competing priorities. You will have experience in contract management, financial management and business development.

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate excellent leadership skills and be able to negotiate and influence at all levels. A commitment to health and safety is essential along with a focus on delivering first class customer service skills whilst living the Peterson values.

Responsibilities

  • Managing effective business planning with clearly defined customer objectives, including the budget with income and expenses;
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with customers, partners and suppliers;
  • Regularly assessing the overall performance against the business objectives;
  • Be responsible for guiding and motivating employees;
  • Taking care of the development of employees and the support of Performance Management whereby employees are regularly assessed on the required competences through Performance Review meetings;
  • Ensuring the effective use of the safety and quality system and achieving related objectives.

Requirements

    • Extensive demonstrable experience as a manager in integral management of services / processes and coaching of employees in various fields;
    • Extensive experience in the field of maritime services in ports, offshore oil and gas production and exploration, offshore wind, logistics;
    • Experience in projects and management in a large-scale, complex environment with conflicts of interest;
    • Excellent presentation and communicative / personal skills;
    • Excellent commercial skills.
