Position Overview

The Crew Worker, under the direction of the Crew Chief, performs activities and operates hand and power tools to perform maintenance and repairs to oil or gas wells and related equipment, including activities associated with the rig-up and rig-down of the workover rig, pulling levers or turning handles in support of rig operations; picking up/laying down and standing back steel production rods, tubing and casing, disassembling and assembling various types of production equipment, the repair and maintenance of tools. This is a safety sensitive position.

Major Responsibilities

Major duties:
  • Operates/uses rod wrenches, rod/tubing tongs, rod/tubing elevators, hand tools, powered rig tools and other related equipment
  • Lays down, picks up and stands back Rods and Tubing
  • Assembles and disassembles various tools to be used to run in the wellbore
  • Assists in the rigging up/down of the well service unit as directed and assists with the installation of blow out preventer and equipment
  • Repairs and Maintenance of tools, and installs and uninstalls various well servicing tools to be RIH
  • May be required to drive a company, light or DOT regulated commercial vehicle (Approved driver status required)
  • Performs all duties in compliance with Customer and Company policies and procedures as well as all QHSE applicable regulations
  • Actively participates in safety meetings to identify and address risks and hazard
  • Performs other duties as assigned


Qualifications and Skills

Required:
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Valid Driver's License
  • 1-2 years' experience
  • Knowledge of Rig Service Tools E.g. Power Tongs, BOP, Wrenches
  • Basic knowledge of Rig Service Procedures and Processes e.g. RU/RD, POOH Rods/Tubing, RIH Rod/Tubing
  • Knowledge of and Compliance with DOT rules and regulations
  • Knowledge of company policies, HSE standards and departmental guidelines
  • Ability to read, write and speak English to the extent that they can understand verbal and written instructions as well as give verbal and written instructions in English
  • Ability to use simple mathematical calculations using whole numbers, fractions and decimals (addition, subtraction, division and multiplication) to make job-related calculations
  • Basic computer skills
  • Must pass pre-employment drug and alcohol screening as well as background check


Preferred:
  • Oil & Gas Industry a plus


Physical Requirements:
  • Climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, visual acuity, grasping, repetitive hand movement/motions, finger dexterity for writing and typing, squatting, twisting, talking, hearing,
  • Lifting objects up to and including 50lbs
  • Physical exertion including cardiovascular and large muscle/motor control
  • Must be capable of working in a fast-paced environment
  • Must be able to perform work wearing personnel protective equipment. Including but not limited to the following: rain gear, coveralls, hard hat, ear plugs and safety glasses


Typical working conditions and hazards:
  • Must be capable of working outdoors in all types of weather conditions.
  • Shifts over 8 hours typical
  • Up to 20% travel
  • May be exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals, explosives, outside environmental conditions, activities may occur inside and outside,
  • Extreme cold or heat: Temperatures typically below 32 degrees for periods of on hour or above 100 degrees
  • Noise: There is sufficient noise to cause the worker to shout in order to be heard above the ambient noise level
  • Hazards: Include a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, working on scaffolding and high places, exposure to high heat or exposure to chemicals
  • Atmospheric conditions: One or more of the following conditions that affect the respiratory system of the skin: Fumes, odors, dusts, mists, gases or poor ventilation.
