Role Summary:

You will provide technical support for sales and operations of refinery process additives. This position will report to the NAR Downstream Chemicals Technology Manager. The primary areas of expertise required are knowledge of refinery processing units (Crude Unit, FCCU, Coking, Hydrotreating) and familiarity with chemical treatment programs for emulsion breaking, fouling control, corrosion control and finished fuels. Support will be dedicated to a single major customer of Baker Hughes Downstream Chemicals department. 50% travel is expected in this role.


Essential Responsibilities:

  • Participate and support in technical team selling through direct customer interface Provide technical recommendations and share best practices
  • Perform problem diagnostics and troubleshooting
  • Direct processing units assessments, monitoring and customer reports. Develop and administer customer and internal technical training
  • Assist with new product introduction through technical presentations, trial support, and data collection/analysis
  • Investigate unusual or unsatisfactory product performance to determine root cause and preventative action
  • Handle special projects, as assigned
  • Assist sales in identifying new product opportunities and business development strategies
  • Interface with sales to support direction and strategies to best capture market opportunities and business value
  • Promote and maintain good customer relations.
  • Lead and support safe HSE practices
  • This position involves safety sensitive or hazardous duty activities and therefore will be subject to random and annual drug & alcohol testing in accordance with the Company and customer policies.
  • Performs other related duties as required.


Qualifications/Requirements:

 

 

  • B.Sc. degree in Engineering, Chemistry, or other related Science discipline
  • 3+ years of refinery or other relevant process experience
  • Thorough understanding of P/L technology and Service Delivery requirements
  • Prior direct customer interface experience in a sales, technical support, or customer service role
  • Highly initiative, self-driven, strong analytical and conceptual skills, flexibility
  • Strong oral, presentation and written communication skills
  • Ability to develop and mentor small technical teams
  • Availability on call outside of normal business hours
  • Proficiency in use of personal computer and MS Windows and MS Office applications

Desired Characteristics:

  • 5+ years ofrefinery or other relevant process experience
  • Significant operational experience
  • End-to-end knowledge of the downstream refining process
  • Ability to learn and use various computer tools to prepare data and visualizations for analysis
  • Ability to work independently
