A vacancy has arisen for a Financial Controller, reporting directly to the Finance Director. With responsibility for the supervision of management accountants within the finance department ensuring that financial information provided to management is accurate and timely. They will be required to identify and manage the financial needs of the company to support and deliver the business objectives, whilst also providing direction and support to Business Managers and the Finance Team. A commitment to continuous improvement of processes and controls is also vital in this role along, particularly through the broader implementation of Microsoft Dynamics 365 and integration with other systems.

The candidate must hold a CA/CIMA/ACCA qualification. They should be able to work at a high level and be able to present information to Directors. They must also be able to demonstrate good planning, co-ordination and organisational skills. Excellent communication skills is essential in this role. Candidates should be computer literate and proficient in the use of Excel and Word, whilst experience of AX Dynamics and Dynamics 365 would be an advantage.

Maintaining regular dialogue with Business Managers for business units under the FC's control, both formally and informally, informing and advising on both plus and minus factors impacting on the business, in effect applying a "no surprises" approach to communication and the generation of up to date and accurate financial information. Support commercial activities that arise from time to time, including investment case propositions and CapEx requests for those business units, so decision making is founded on sound judgement and considered evaluation before approvals put forward. Overseeing the accurate and timely production of financial statements and reports comprising the consolidation and evaluation of all revenue, cost and economic analysis. Lead role in the planning and preparation of projected income and revenue streams and subsequently generating rolling monthly, quarterly and 12 monthly Group forecast, budgets and financial statements.

Develop good working relationships with representatives from the parent company, auditors, legal and tax advisors, bankers and other providers of funding and cash to the business, and work to support these representatives in the processes that each are delivering against for the statutory entities under the FC's control, ensuring Group reporting timelines are met. Manage systems for the inherent risks of currency, fiscal and cashflow issues impacting upon the business, and have warnings in place that highlight risk to allow the business to navigate around these issues. Work with SSC and Operations to improve and manage our cash-to-cash cycle, and reduce business risk, developing systems to ring alarm bells to attract and focus management attention.

Play a key role in the continuous development of financial processes and methodologies across Finance and Shared Service Centre functions to accommodate the changing commercial and financial management demands of the Group.

Roles & responsibilities:

  • Collate Board and Bank Reporting packs.

  • Review and prepare overall company financial position i.e. P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow on a monthly basis.

  • Focal point for Auditors and Bank, with regards to Audit and managing Bank Facilities.

  • Monitor and manage the month end close process, and find ways to shorten the reporting cycle and improve the reporting quality via improved process or systems.

  • Develop and implement rolling 12 month forecasts.

  • Consolidate and manage annual budget process and any quarterly reforecasting that is undertaken for the statutory entities under your control.

  • Prepare monthly P&L for any allocated profit centres / companies.

  • Support the annual appraisal process.

  • Document and ensure compliance with Company and Group accounting policies.

  • Authorising payments.

  • Ad-hoc projects to improve the efficiency of the finance department.

  • Treasury Management.

  • Contribute to innovation in new technology, and in particular support the continued development of our Dynamics 365 ERP Software.

  • Support the implementation of standard costing.

  • Develop meaningful KPI's to assist Business Managers in the decision-making process, and monitor and report on the KPIs.

  • Support the integration of any new profit centres / businesses.

  • Contribute to commercial decisions such as new tenders or business streams, or significant capital expenditure by providing the analysis and opinion to aid decision making.

  • Manage and supervise production of Analytical Statistic Reports & Contract Profitability.

  • Ensure timely capture of data and payment of VAT, CTAX & company payroll requirements;

  • Any other delegated responsibilities as instructed by Management, provided the instruction is reasonable and you are capable and deemed competent to fulfil the request.

  • Qualified with CA/CIMA/ACCA

  • Computer Literate, proficient in use of Excel and Word

  • Experience in AX Dynamics 2012/365 is an advantage

  • Ability to work in a demanding environment
