LEAD INSTRUMENT STARTUP TECHNICIAN: CONTRACT

LOCATION: Hickok (Near Garden City), KS

QUALIFICATIONS:

10 years minimum Startup Experience in process and power plants
Certification (ISA or similar)
Understand and familiar with Lock-Out-Tag-Out procedures
Understand and knowledgeable of Electrical Safety and related safe working procedures
Read drawings, P&ID's, electrical schematics, wiring and termination drawings, ladder logic, SAMA logic, control loop drawings, specification data sheets
Familiar with startup of PLC's. Specific experience with AB Compact GuardLogix 5380 a plus.
Familiar with startup of DCS's. Specific experience with Siemens PCS7 a plus.
Familiar with CEMS testing - assist CEMS supplier during commissioning
Qualified with all normal instrument and electrical test equipment
Able to independently perform field control wiring loop checks and document results
Able to independently commission, calibrate, and trouble shoot resolve typical field instrumentation including; process gauges, various transmitters, process analyzers, valve and damper controllers and positioners and associated controlled process equipment.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Checkout Distributed Control System control loops to field devices in conjunction with two-way radio communications with DCS engineer. Must understand and direct self in check out steps working from drawings, specifications, data sheets, manufacturers documentation, and in-situ installation conditions.
Direct trouble shooting control loop problems with loop devices, wiring, terminations or control logic. Communicate and work with DCS engineer and/or craft electrician when required for trouble shooting instruments and process control equipment.
Verify or calibrate instrument and control devices such as gauges, transmitters, analyzers, switches, control valves and dampers, VFD's and other similar process control equipment.
Field documentation of checkout by annotation of standard checkout sheets with setpoints, ranges, and required operability of typical plant instrument and electrical devices.
Able to understand, plan, and manage the work in accordance with project startup schedule and when required, direction from startup manager or DCS engineer.
Track and provide completion status to startup manager / schedule. Familiar with MS excel a plus.
