We are recruiting for an Instrumentation Design Engineer within our Glasgow office for the on time delivery of projects/design packs that provide safe, economic, engineered solutions to our customers, in accordance with Hydrasun HSEQ processes and procedures and in compliance with all relevant codes and/or standards.

 

Essential Qualifications, Experience and Competencies

  • HND in Process/Instrumentation/Control Hydraulics Systems or equivalent

  • Experience of working in an mechanical engineering environment with design experience in a relevant area (Instrumentation, Process Control)

  • Experience of carrying out engineering design, development and manufacture of Process Control, Instrumentation, and/or Hydraulic systems

  • Development of P & ID's, BOM's and documentation packs

  • Autocad Inventor or similar

  • Ability to maintain a professional and focused approach at all times, in particular, in customer facing situations

  • Microsoft Office

  • Excellent HSE & QA awareness

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Good organisational and administration skills

  • Keen and effective attention to detail

 

Desirable Qualifications, Experience and Competencies

  • Degree in Engineering (Mechanical bias)

  • Working towards or Chartered Status

  • Subsea control systems

  • Design of control panels

  • Design of small bore tubing systems

  • Subsea engineering codes and standards

  • Product and process development

  • Fabrication/welding design/codes and standards

  • Active participation in engineering reviews and/or investigations with customers

  • PED/ATEX

  • Mathcad and FEA programmes experience

  • Knowledge of materials and processes used within offshore oil and gas operations

 

Duties will include but will not be limited to:

Technical Duties

  • Carry out technical & design engineering activities in support of the Integrated Instrumentation Solutions (IIS) Division.

  • Produce economic engineered solutions, considering all aspects from materials to manufacturability, that maximises profitably for Hydrasun whilst satisfying all customer and internal requirements

  • Liaise with customers to establish, through negotiation where appropriate, and confirm precise Engineering requirements

  • Liaise with other departments to ensure clarity of understanding of all customer/project requirements

  • Ensure full compliance, during all engineering and related activities, with regard to sound engineering practice and adherence to relevant internal and external procedures, guidelines and standards

  • Ensure development and improvement of existing products and services, where possible

  • Actively pursue the development of new product ranges from conceptual design to manufacture

  • Liaise with suppliers on technical and engineering matters

  • Ensure knowledge of industry developments is kept up to date

  • Ensure activities within the IIS Division & Engineering Department meet agreed target completion dates

Administration

  • Be responsible for knowing and understanding the Integrated Instrumentation Solutions Divisions and Engineering Department's targets and objectives

  • Carry out all the relevant administrative duties including helping with management reports and audits.

  • Keep any filing/admin/databases up to date

  • Adopt a "no surprises rule" and to ensure delivery against agreed objectives and targets

Continuous Improvement/Personal Development

  • Responsible for knowing and understanding your company targets and objectives.

  • Responsible for understanding, agreeing and achieving personal objectives set by the Department Manager.

  • Adhere to the procedures as laid down by the HSE Management System and Quality Management System.

  • Adhere to the procedures as laid down by the Human Resource Management System and to take an active part in the Performance Management Process and the Competence and Training Programme.

  • Adhere to any duty rota which may be in force.

  • Complete timesheets on a timely basis.

  • Put forward any suggestions for improvements.

  • Attend formal Team Briefings when requested in your own time.

  • Be a team member and actively promote communication and information sharing.
