As the Facilities Maintenance Technician, you will serve as the Primary Area Authority for General Plant activities and provide job representative duties to non-resident contractors performing work in the facility. The role supports the maintenance team lead and serves as the liaison for all contractor activities.

Key Accountabilities

General Plant Activities:

  • Must be able to effectively juggle competing priorities and handle multiple tasks at once
  • Organize training and procedure activities
  • Understand/support critical elements to Safety and Operation and understand site procedures and practices to support delivery of the Operations Strategy.
  • Work with and through others to achieve results and maintain a positive relationship with coworkers, and resolve conflicts in a constructive manner.
  • Demonstrate leadership to achieve both short term and long term objectives
  • Make effective decisions with available data in a timely manner
  • Act in the best interest of the unit, plant, and company
  • Promote a low cost environment that does not sacrifice safety, morale or reliability

Contractor Activities:

  • Provide orientations to contractors working in the facility.
  • Responsible for safely performing minor maintenance in their process as well as monitor aspects of the repair of any piece of equipment by contractors.
  • Support Contractor Liaison accountabilities as advised.
  • In charge of keeping up with the preventative maintenance scheduling for overhead cranes and work with outside contractors to ensure they are certified.

Essential Education

High School Diploma or equivalent

Essential Experience and Job Requirements

  • 5+ years of industrial/manufacturing repair experience in maintenance repair field, or 4+ years military in maintenance repair field, or Associates Degree from an accredited college in a related field.
  • The willingness & ability to work in all weather conditions.
  • Work with diverse groups to achieve results and maintain a positive working relationship with co-workers.
  • Computer skills a plus, as the candidate will enter work notifications and update requisitions
  • Understanding of the Procurement function's processes ideal.

Desirable Criteria / Qualifications

  • 7+ years of maintenance experience preferred
  • Ability to get results through others and effectively manage work of others
  • Able to isolate, lockout, and Permit to work
  • Prior SAP experience
  • Experience operating mobile equipment, such as aerial forklifts
  • Expertise handling overhead cranes & interlocks
  • Assist with portable building identification and management
  • Prior contract management

Physical Demands
  • The ability to routinely:
    • work in confined spaces for extended periods of time
    • climb stairs & ladders that can exceed 200 feet in total span with break decks
    • lift & carry heavy objects up to 50 pounds in weight.
    • put on respirators and other important safety equipment
  • Constant {67-100% of time) exerting of over 50 pounds of force (lifting, pulling, pushing, torqueing), standing, walking, climbing, bending, squatting, kneeling, reaching, carrying, repetitive motions
  • Working outside 67-100% of time in extreme temperatures and noisy environments

Other Requirements such as Travel, Location

  • Must be at least 18 years of age; legally authorized to work in the United States; and not require sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g.,TN, HlB status), now or in the future.
  • Must be able to fluently speak, write, and read English.
