IT & Cyber Security Manager

Our client, one of the world's leading ocean transportation companies, has an urgent need for a Manager of IT and Cyber Security. From a technology perspective, they are on the forefront of change & innovation and are ahead of most of their competition in this regard. The candidate will be given full support by management and have his/her ideas heard (new approaches are welcome!). The ideal candidate will be a critical thinker and a SME on NIST 800:171. He/she should be able to act autonomously and create policies and procedures.

Job Summary:

The IT/Cyber Security Manager will design and support organizational IT infrastructure, troubleshoot, keep hardware and software current, and support all data security and optimization.

This role will be responsible for all company infrastructure and systems on company vessels and will coordinate with Corporate Cyber Security and Regional IT teams.

The candidate will be measured by local systems and infrastructure availability/responsiveness and compliance to DoD IT requirements.



  • Be the Subject Matter Expert and ensure that DoD Cyber Security requirements (especially NIST 800:171) are being met
  • Oversee projects by setting standards, aiding, and tracking progress.
  • Manage the financial objectives by forecasting technical requirements; assisting with the annual budget; monitoring expenditures; authorizing purchase orders; analyzing variances; initiating corrections
  • Manage the day to day optimal operation of the IT infrastructure and coordinates maintenance and upgrade activities
  • Create and deliver strategy, solutions, policies, and procedures
  • Ensure service quality through the creation of and adherence to technical procedures and standards
  • Audit implemented solutions and systems
  • Keep abreast of technology trends through internal and external workshops, professional publications, industry best practices and research
  • Set priorities, provide technical assistance, coordinate resources, and lead projects


  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Minimum 5-8 years of experience
  • NIST 800:171 experience
  • Cyber security Maturity Model Certification (CMMC) for Vessel Satellite Communications
  • Must be US Citizen
