Marine Design Engineer


Washington D.C.


Job Summary:

This role will be responsible for supporting all conventional aspects of marine vessel design by applying engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria.


  • Put together detailed engineering calculations
  • Use your knowledge of design to assist project managers in the design of boats and ensure it meets company requirements
  • Clearly document work solutions and challenges and come up with solutions
  • Complete engineering assignments accurately and on a timely basis utilizing standard engineering programs.


  • U.S. Citizenship is required
  • Must be able to obtain security clearance
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a related field
  • Have at least 3 years of related experience with small craft design
  • Have a strong knowledge of marine engineering principles, practices, and technologies. Also knowledge in developing calculations and drawings for Class and Flag review and approval
  • Proficiency in using industry-standard CAD software, including AutoCAD and Rhino
  • Experience in using FEMAP/NASTRAN Finite Element Analysis software
  • Experience in designing all types of marine propulsion and auxiliary systems.
  • Experience with developing technical scopes of supply and collaboration with vendors
  • Demonstrated Interpersonal Skills as a member of a collaborative multidisciplinary team
  • Strong analytical skills, communication, and interpersonal skills


Additional Desired Qualifications:

• Engineer in Training (EIT) License • Professional Engineer's License

• Project Management Professional certification
