To represent bp Lubricants at the technical departments of automotive OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) and Tier 1 customers selected for business development under Driveline, especially EV (Electric Vehicle) fluids for Hybrids and Full Electrical Vehicles. To provide access to, and develop relationships with, the technical departments of the OEMs/ Tier 1s to gain insights, technical knowledge, and trends regarding current and future hardware, and to present bp's technical offer and capability to the customer. To gain advantage for bp through the relationships and reputation formed. To negotiate and secure approvals for Castrol fluids.

This role can be based in one of the three locations: Wayne, Naperville or Detroit. While travel is listed as 50%, it can range anywhere from 25 - 50%.Key Accountabilities
  • Develop and maintain the relationships with key technical groups at target OEMs and Tier 1s (approx. 20); being the first point of contact and representing bp Lubes technology at the OEMs and Tier 1s technical centres. Being the subject matter expert within BP on OEM and Tier 1 trends, strategies etc., including influencing BP's future product and technology pipelines. Develop new relationships by stepping up various OEM and Tier 1 organisation levels to specifically promote BP's capabilities in Driveline e fluids and support new business developments.
  • Develop insights into the OEM's and Tier 1s needs and proactively identify opportunities to work with the OEM's and Tier 1s in support of the BP lubricants business strategy.
  • Presenting technical data to the OEMs and Tier 1s to support an ongoing technical dialogue and to support product approval applications.
  • Support the bp approval process and product pipeline to make sure that the required approvals can be achieved according to agreed milestones.
  • Represent bp as an external Industry liaison.
  • Develop lubricant technology offers in conjunction with the responsible bp Driveline Technology Development Teams and support the bp businesses and be able to strongly influence the OEM and Tier 1s to engage in such technology offers.
  • Influence various cross-functional teams (Global Marketing, Regional Technology, Regional marketing, Regional business) to make sure that bp's product range is compliant to OEM's/Tier 1s and bp's integrity rules
Education Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Science or equivalent (Automotive and Chemistry background is a plus)
Essential Requirements
  • Strong technical background in operations and commercial
  • Credibility to represent BP Lubes technology with practitioners within the OEMs and Tier 1s
  • Extensive experience of presenting technology to third parties
  • A proven track record of building relationships and networks
  • Significant lubricant product/ product development experience
  • Entrepreneurship and strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate with all levels of any organization
  • Knowledge in automotive transmission/driveline technology
