Position Description:
We are seeking a Drilling & Workover Safety Engineer to join the Loss Prevention Department (LPD) at Saudi Aramco.

Field offices are located in Abqaiq, Riyadh, Ras Tanura, Dhahran, 'Udhailiyah, Jiddah (including Yanbu' and Jazan), and Tanajib.

The Drilling & Workover Safety Engineer's primary role is to work with upstream organizations to provide field and office safety support to manage properly safety in petroleum engineering, exploration, drilling and workover related activities.

Minimum Requirements:
The successful candidate will have a Bachelor of Science degree in any engineering discipline plus 7 years of relevant oil and gas upstream industry experience. This would include areas such as: Drilling & Workover operations, well planning and approval, reservoir management, geology and geophysics, project management for upstream facilities development, oil & gas field development, simultaneous operations (SIMPOS) between upstream and construction/downstream operations, offshore and onshore drilling rig safety inspections, managerial audits/assessments, safety program and emergency response plans development.

The ability to communicate in technical English with peers as well as members of management, and be able to produce clear and concise oral and written reports in English.

Knowledge of modern safety management systems, processes, and techniques applicable to the oil and gas industry; as well as International drilling recommended practices, OSHA and ANSI standards and specifications.

Desired Competencies

Full experience in drilling and workover equipment and operations.

Have knowledge of well control equipment and procedures (i.e., attended Basic Well Control School)

Have a working knowledge/experience of risk assessment and mitigation methodologies, such as the development and review of risk assessments, HAZOP, HAZID, Job safety analysis (JSA) or any other method of risk assessment.

Have experience in delivering safety training to employees and contractors.

Have work experience in the following topics:

Hazards associated with hydrogen sulfide (H2S);
Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) Management;
Work at height safety;
Confined space entry / Hot Wok / Isolation (LO/TO); and
Heavy Equipment and lifting safety.

Understand the international Incident Command System.

Have a working knowledge or certification in drilling rig audits/inspections.

Have a working knowledge or certification in incident investigation techniques.

Have knowledge of the OSHA incident reporting and classification.

Understand the fundamentals of gas reservoir management for unconventional resources.

Understand seismic operations fundamentals, hazards and techniques.

Understand basics of quantitative risk assessment (QRA) and consequence modeling techniques such as toxic & flammable dispersion analysis and heat radiation calculation calculations.

Duties & Responsibilities:
You are required to perform the following:

Provide support to proponent organizations to implement the Saudi Aramco Safety Management System (SMS) and in meeting safety objectives and expectations. This support includes assisting proponent organizations in developing safety processes related to risk assessment and management, safety training, asset integrity, safe operations, contractor safety, emergency preparedness, incident investigations, etc.

Conduct field inspections to onshore and offshore drilling rigs and other support facilities such us warehouses, workshops and pipe yards.

Provide proponents clear reports with safety concerns and work with proponents to develop practical and cost-effective corrective actions.

Participate in various safety studies/activities, such as PHAs, HAZOPs, Critical JSAs, incident investigations, compliance reviews, or insurance surveys including evaluation of consequence analyses, e.g., toxic gas dispersion modeling.

Develop and/or review corporate safety standards, instructions and procedures related to upstream operations and formalize them into company-documented practices as required.

Review designs for new (or upgrades), oil and gas fields' facilities for compliance with company and industry safety standards.

Assist proponents in developing Emergency Response Plans for credible scenarios. Attend proponent's emergency drills as observer and provide feedback.

Participate in incident investigations as required and conduct incident trends analysis for different organizations

Act as a mentor to other loss prevention professionals.
