Under the direction of the Instrumentation and Electrical Reliability (IER) Team Leader, the Instrumentation & Electrical Reliability Engineer provides leadership and technical expertise in areas pertaining to plant instrumentation and electrical system to ensure safe, environmentally sound and reliable operation.

Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:

  • Analyzing data to evaluate equipment with recurring failures. Identifying the root cause of the failures and developing solutions
  • Providing reliability support on capital and expense projects. Review and provide comments on engineering design packages (issued for approval and construction packages) issued by design engineering and capital projects team
  • Identifying electrical and Instrumentation work for plant outages
  • Developing preventive and predictive maintenance asset strategies. Evaluating the effectiveness of asset strategies and make improvements. Reviewing/Modifying Reliability and Maintenance procedures
  • Identifying improvements in the plant's electrical and instrumentation systems and recommending upgrades
  • Tracking and reporting Electrical and instrumentation Reliability metrics
  • Assisting Maintenance with trouble-shooting problem Electrical and instrumentation equipment
  • Identifying obsolete critical equipment, elevating for resolution, and developing long-term replacement plans
  • Participating/Leading RCM studies for critical Electrical and instrumentation equipment.
  • Support review and deployment of reliability asset strategies
  • Team member of the Factory Acceptance Test and Site Acceptance Test which may be performed at manufacturer or vendor site
  • Engage and participate in the Instrumentation Electrical Reliability (IER) community of practice meetings to share and bring back to the site the best IER practices
  • Provide IER support in alignment with core work processes at the site
  • Build a positive relationship with operations and main partners by supporting key strategic and tactical meetings
  • The position will also require knowledge of electrical maintenance and electrical systems including Medium Voltage applications


Required Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's in Electrical, Computer, Control Systems, Electronics, Electromechanical, Mechatronics, Robotics or Microelectronic Engineering degree
  • A minimum of 3 years engineering experience in the Oil & Gas, Petrochemical or Chemical industry
  • Knowledge and Use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel)
  • Good Written and Oral Communication Skills


Preferred Qualifications:




  • Experience with cogeneration
  • Knowledge and Use of SAP Software
  • Knowledge and Use of Meridium Software
  • Knowledge and Use of AMS Software
