Job Summary:

  • Under general direction, Lab Lead bring together his/her managerial skills and knowledge of safety and lab procedures to independently ensure that the laboratory operates smoothly.
  • Oversee and control all the laboratory activities conducted by the operator to ensure safe, efficient acquisition and analysis of plant samples. Maintain an efficient and effective QC/QA system for monitoring.
  • Monitor & oversee quality management, HSE compliance, legal and ethical compliance, and training for the laboratory.

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Maintain regulatory compliance and ensure laboratory work is carried out in accordance with laboratory procedures and work instructions.
  • Ensure that all tests are conducted/undertaken in full compliance with approved and applicable procedures, methods, quality standards and protocols.
  • Monitor laboratory equipment periodical calibration as per plans and schedules.
  • Monitor & review regular lab special samples, analytical reports and technical notes.
  • Supervise the process of applying and maintaining laboratory quality control system and required laboratory accreditations.
  • Identify the HSE risks that could be encountered during each lab test/experiment and take the necessary measures to address that risk.
  • Oversee & monitor the training and the development programs for all current & new staff.
  • Ensures all lab staff has adequate resources to perform all aspects of work required.
  • Ensures all lab staff is adequately trained to safely perform all required job functions and that competency records are maintained.
  • Ensure the proper compliance and execution of the environmental and quality management system within the laboratory as per company guidelines.
  • Ensure environmental procedures, industry standards and safety regulations for handling and disposing of test samples are followed properly.
  • Report on activities, progress and results.
  • Ensure that all information and data collected in the lab is kept safe.
  • Interact with vendors and regulatory agencies.
  • Identify opportunities for improving performance.
  • Other duties as may be assigned by Division and/or senior management.

 

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in chemistry.
  • 15-20 years' experience in laboratory, where at least three years in refineries.
  • Very good oral/written English.
  • Very good scientific, technical and presentation skills.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
