We are seeking a Data Science Specialist to join the Oil & Gas Network Integrity Division of Saudi Aramco's Research and Development Center (R&DC).
The R&DC is responsible for providing innovative solutions to enhance the reliability and improve the performance of the Company's operating downstream processes and assets. In this ambit, particular focus is placed on the expansion and creation of new digital industrial technologies and artificial intelligence within the R&DC's research portfolio to align with corporate initiatives on digitalization, positioning the company in a leading position within the oil and gas industry for implementation of such new technologies, ensuring sustainable and optimized processes and enhancing the hydrocarbon value chain.
For this reason the R&DC is seeking an expert/consultant in data science who can confidently delve into concepts such as data analytics, big data, artificial intelligence, machine learning and deep learning, etc., and lead the digital revolution through coordination and alignment with current Company activities. This role will require areas to be identified for value creation that will benefit from new technology deployment. The candidate is expected to possess a strong technical and business competency with knowledge of current industry digitalization standards, structures, and best practices, and who is capable of identifying current industry challenges in areas, which can be solved using data science.
As the successful candidate, you will hold a Ph.D. degree specializing in one of the following disciplines: Data science, computer science, mathematics, or statistics from a globally recognized institution. Additionally, a higher level qualification in a business related field is also desired.
You will have at least 20 years of industrial experience including at least 15 years of experience working on the implementation of artificial intelligence based technologies to enhance operations and processes.
You must be a globally recognized specialist/consultant in the field of data science, having significant patent history and record of publications in recognized international peer reviewed journals. Research management experience and portfolio management experience is highly desirable. Fluent communication skills in English are a requirement.
Duties & Responsibilities:
You will be required to perform the following:
Propose new strategies and develop plans to expand the field of application of digital industrial technologies and artificial intelligence; maintain up to date on new trends and techniques for data science based applications to ensure a resilient plan for value realization through optimization of processes. Establish and manage collaborations between departments, divisions and units as well as external partners to accelerate the achievement of goals and maximize the impact of projects.
Develop and implement a digital industrial technology roadmap with clear milestones and deliverables while monitoring value creation. Monitor and mentor the development of employees through the development of training and knowledge transfer programs. You will be expected to liaise with field and facility proponents to understand current processes and identify areas and challenges that will benefit from the implementation of artificial intelligence.
The role of a data science specialist/consultant will include the development of strategic related outlooks, roadmaps with tangible milestones and deliverables, create and monitor research programs for new proposed technologies, all while aligned with new business trends. The candidate must at all times be aware of the economic implication of any scientific and economic aspects of projects and the research portfolio. The role requires the ability to guide and mentor multidisciplinary technology teams, support development of training plans for employees within the field of digital technologies, and present technical and techno-economic findings to support executive management decisions.
