Position Description:
The Refining & Upgrading R&D Division is responsible for providing short- and long-term R&D solutions to Domestic Refining and NGL fractionation operations. Saudi Aramco seeks a hydroprocessing technology expert with extensive experience at a major technology licensing and/or oil company. The successful candidate shall work in a multidisciplinary environment where he/she will be involved in different research projects and interact with management, researchers and operations to develop solutions and propose recommendations.

Minimum Requirements:
As the successful candidate, you will hold either a Ph.D. or a M.S. in chemical engineering from a leading accredited university. The candidate should have at least twenty (20) years of the experience with a major technology licensing and/or oil company having a strong background in all refining process technologies, particularly bottom of the barrel technologies including hydrotreating, hydrocracking, residue hydroprocessing, fluid catalytic cracking, coking and gasification. Experience in R&D, process design, technology development, commercialization and refining operation with a strong knowledge in catalysis, thermodynamics, mass transfer, and kinetics and modeling is required. In addition, working knowledge and experience in catalyst testing, evaluation and advanced liquid/solid analysis/characterization is required. The candidate should have a team-oriented spirit with effective communication skills and be capable of writing technical research reports, research articles, and invention disclosures that lead to a patent applications. In addition, he/she should provide mentorship when required to develop the young workforce in his/her area of expertise. Excellent English communication skills (verbal and written) are a must.

Duties & Responsibilities:
The candidate will advise R&DC management and the research teams on technical and strategic issues. The responsibilities include general consulting and planning of development programs, overseeing pilot implementation and testing, allocating facility and personnel resources, and interfacing with project scientists and technicians. The candidate will provide key strategic data to R&DC management to set the directions for existing and prospective projects and share experiences across project teams, communities of practice and management team on innovative approaches in refining process technologies. He or she will explore emerging opportunities to expand refining learning and knowledge experiences, and will participate in international organizations, associations, forums and conferences to continually bring new ideas. International and domestic travel up to 15% may be required.
