Chevron is accepting online applications for the position of Instrument and Electrical Craftsman located in Coalinga Main Office, through January 23, 2020, at 11:59 p.m. (Eastern Standard Time).

This position is classified as an O&M position and is represented by theIUPIW Union. This positionrequires knowledgeof electricaland instrumented system maintenance.This is a safety sensitive position

Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:

  • Maintenance and operationof electrical distribution systems; 115kV, 70KV, 12KV, 4160, 2300, 480V, 120V.
  • Maintenance and calibrationof electronic and pneumatic control systems including but not limited to transmitters, switches, level devices, valves & actuators, flow and level control devices.
  • Knowledge of PLC's and ability to conduct basic troubleshooting on automation equipment
  • Ensure all maintenance work is performed consistent with work practices. Ensures equipment is maintained safely and efficiently according to Company policies and procedures.
  • Actively supports the implementation of preventative maintenance work on all critical equipment.
  • Focus on reliability of equipment and address "bad actors" as necessary.
  • Ensure alignment with workgroup's goals and metrics.
  • Keep team and customers informed of ongoing activities.
  • Support Operational Excellence by adherence to maintenance work processes and focusing on reliability.
  • Interface with representatives from different departments and organizations is essential.
  • Health and safety must be adhered to including JSA, MSW and SWC.

 


Required Qualifications

 

 

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Must possess, or have previously held,valid California Electrical State Certification.
  • Must possess valid driver's license.
  • Must have 4years minimum experience in instrumentation and electrical field.
  • Knowledge and experience in oilfield maintenance instrumentation and electrical work, as well as the electrical repair work done on electrical distribution systems (transformers, reclosers, switchgear, etc.).
  • Able to troubleshoot, repair, upgrade, and optimize both automation/instrumentation and electrical distribution systems.

 


Prefered Qualifications

 

 

 

  • Display a familiarity with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
  • Ability to interface with representatives from different departments and organizations is essential.
  • Must be focused on operational excellence by optimizing the maintenance work processes, maintaining a streamlined work force, focusing on reliability, and minimizing operating expenses.
  • Must possess good troubleshooting skills and be able to troubleshoot and determine corrective actions for abnormal conditions.
  • Knowledge of various electrical codes including but not limited to NEC, NFPA 70, CA GO 95, API 500, OSHA Electrical Safe Work Practices; and other industry standards for electrical and instrumentation installation.
  • Ability to read and interpret one-line diagrams, P&IDs, motor control schematics, wiring diagrams, functional control diagrams in order to troubleshoot, repair, and optimize instrumentation and electrical systems.
  • Basic knowledge of programmable logic controllers (PLC).
  • Understanding of safe work practices such as Standard Operating Procedures, Job Safety Analysis, and Management of Change.
  • Clear oral and written communication skills.
  • Able to translate complex technical issues into user friendly communications.
  • Good working knowledge of oilfield equipment, production and plant processes; steam generators, boiler and heater treater safety requirements.
  • Understanding of gauge setting process and troubleshooting.
  • Candidate must understand and support Health, Environment & Safety work processes
