Chevron is accepting online applications for the position of High-Performance Computing Analyst through January 24, 2020 at 12:00 a.m. (GMT-6).

The High-Performance Computing (HPC) team is responsible for providing application and infrastructure solutions that support complex, compute intensive workloads such as seismic imaging, computational stratigraphy, reservoir management, Artificial Intelligence (AI), and Machine Learning (ML).The successful candidate will partner with scientists, engineers, and other HPC infrastructure and application experts to provide HPC solutions that fully leverage the computing resources on premise and in the cloud.

Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:

  • Collaborate with colleagues in Technical Computing, Information Technology, and Upstream business units to design and deliver HPC compute solutions, both on premise and in Microsoft Azure.
  • Optimize and automate operations support activities.
  • Effectively and efficiently troubleshoot and resolve system problems, including analyzing current application requirements and performance.
  • Ensure all technical solutions are aligned with the vision, principles, architecture and standards defined by the relevant architecture teams while ensuring information protection and data privacy.
  • Effectively interact with peers, company leadership, subject matter experts and HPC system users.


Required Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's Degree and 2+ years of experience in a large-scale HPC environment (400+ cluster nodes). Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
  • Working knowledge of HPC system architecture (HPC clusters, GPU's, parallel storage), scientific programming, and cloud technologies.
  • Experience configuring and administering Linux (CentOS and Red Hat 7) and Windows operating systems.
  • Experience with Microsoft Azure cloud administration including Resource Groups, App Services, Storage Accounts, Azure AD, Security Center, Service Health, and Subscriptions.
  • Demonstrated knowledge with one or more scripting languages: Python, Perl, Bash, Ansible, PowerShell
  • Experience with HPC software development techniques, including compilers, languages, and programming models.
