The primary remit of the GSS SSWH team is demand planning, sourcing/procurement, monitoring of manufacturing process, delivery of equipment (ex-works) that is spec compliant, engineering support, services support and inventory control. The equipment included for this ex-works delivery is the SSWH system, its associated extensions/connectors and first crossover joints and verifying that running tools are designed (typically rented) to meet the function requirements. GSS SSWH team works jointly with GWO Drilling Wells team to provide technical assurance and commercial framework for aftermarket services required for subsea drilling activity. The SSWH team is responsible for execution/delivery of such scope, which includes mobilization of equipment from ex-works location, rental/maintenance of the tools/other connectors, warehousing or other aftermarket services.

The Project Initiation Team Lead is responsible for building/leading a team of Subsea Engineers that compiles a global demand plan, initiates projects including sourcing events, manages inventory allocation and manages the establishment and reporting required for a series of central FM's for above region hardware purchase. This person will report to GSS SPSE Well Systems Manager.Key Accountabilities:
  • Provide leadership to the SSWH Project Initiation team
  • Assign Initiation Leads to projects
  • Recommend personnel development for the Initiation Leads
  • Ensure that risks (technical, commercial and schedule) are identified and escalated to the appropriate parties, including the SSWH Well Systems Manager
  • Ensure reporting of weekly and bi-monthly progress as required
  • Support GSS Engineering Leads and Delivery Leads as necessary
  • Provide support for Performance Management of suppliers
  • Demand planning
  • Meet periodically with representatives of all of the regions that are or might drill subsea wells and obtain a forecast demand for subsea wellhead equipment
  • Maintain a personnel demand plan based on current/forecasted Project Initiation work worldwide
  • Manage the forecast of global demand planning and evaluate existing regional/project inventory to meet rig needs

  • Be the single voice for Project Initiation, special projects and Central FM deliveries to the SSWH Well Systems Manager
  • Oversee interfacing of BP Projects and Wells teams to define and manage Project Initiation for SSWH systems
  • Lead the development of cost, time and resource estimate for each project scope (TCO document)
  • Work to get SWOs approved by regions for GSS intangible costs
  • Ensure SORs and MELs are developed and reviewed and SOWs as required
  • Ensure RFI/RFP/RFQ are prepared, submitted, reviewed, clarified and evaluated in coordination with PSCM
  • Support PSCM until POs are issued / call-offs are executed
  • Ensure that GFA (if present) terms are followed, and propose any needed amendments

  • Align global inventory usage with demand planning to provide recommendations into SSWH centrally funded wellhead orders (Central FMs)

Education Requirements:
  • Bachelors Degree in Engineering and/or related field.
Experiences and Skills Required:
  • 5+ years of experience in Oil Field Equipment, Delivery Engineering, and/or Project Management
  • 10+ years of Project Management Experience
Skills and Certifications Preferred:
  • Professional Accreditation, PE, PMP, or Equivalent Certifications highly preferred
