Role Summary:

The Process Engineer/Chemist will be responsible for applying technical expertise in rubber processing and chemistry to meet business objectives of the organization. The role requires driving synergies between manufacturing and engineering in a way that maintains and improves the quality and consistency of rubber goods. The role will support Subsea Drilling Services within the Oilfield Equipment business.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Apply knowledge in rubber mixing, curing and chemistry
  • Write and review new specifications to improve product consistency
  • Team with manufacturing, quality and engineering to advance product and process technology
  • Identify improvement areas and drive corrective action plans
  • Apply data analytics and statistical process control to project work
  • Lead root cause analyses using a systematic approach
  • Ensure conformance to existing specifications
  • Troubleshoot issues to aid in reducing creation of off-spec material
  • Confer with raw material and equipment vendors
  • Evaluate non-conforming reports and disposition stocks
  • Ensure compliance initiatives are followed and training requirements are met


  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Chemistry or Materials Science
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in Rubber Technology
  • Able to interface effectively with manufacturing and across the organization

Desired Characteristics:

  • Experience in manufacturing of performance rubber products such as tires, seals, hoses/belts
  • Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, including good presentation skills
  • Clear thinker with ability to develop, communicate, and deliver clear action plans
