On the BPX Energy Permian Operations Team, the Instrument and Electrical (I&E) Technician plans and executes routine corrective maintenance on electrical and instrumentation systems. Responsibilities include work management prioritization, production deferral resolution, and vendor coordination for material sourcing and work execution. This individual plays a key role in assuring safe, stable, and reliable operation of Permian production facilities through rigorous facility defect elimination. Tasks include disassembly, reassembly, calibration, repair, and troubleshooting of process control instrumentation, valves and analyzers; maintains and repairs electrical equipment and electrical distribution systems using schematics and electrical drawings to support safe, environmentally sound operations. As a member of the Permian Improve Team, this position reports to the Permian Maintenance Team Lead.
Key accountabilities:
•\tEffectively follow all company rules, guidelines, and health, safety, security and environmental (HSSE) practices and procedures.
•\tTroubleshoot and identify equipment problems and obtain any necessary support
•\tManage vendor coordination as necessary to support maintenance execution
•\tEffectively manage prioritization of field wide work requests to improve safety, reliability, and ops efficiency
•\tPerform work on power generation systems
•\tMaintain knowledge of field electrical equipment
•\tResponsible for adhering to a culture of reliability and continuous improvement
•\tResponsible for identifying all risks associated with any assigned work prior to execution.
•\tResponsible for supporting planning development of corrective maintenance plans
•\tResponsible for identifying improvement opportunities and defect elimination opportunities in the day to day execution of work
•\tResponsible for completing all work, especially regulatory compliance work, as planned
•\tResponsible for daily recording of pertinent work order information (failure reporting, improvements, time, request for master data changes, lessons learned, etc.)
•\tAbility to interpret technical drawings
•\tComplies with BP's Code of Conduct and models BP's Values & Behaviors.
•\tResponsible for identifying all risks associated with any assigned work prior to execution.
•\tExperience of working with cloud-based SCADA hosts and historians
•\tRemote Transmitting Unit (RTU) types, programming and troubleshooting
•\tProven ability to investigate root causes of problems and implementations of solutions to prevent future occurrence

Criteria and qualifications
•\tMinimum of High School Diploma or Equivalent
•\tOil and gas or equivalent industry experience required
•\tExperience with instrumentation, Radio communications, and a wide range of RTU types
•\tAutomation / Telecommunication experience
