Role Summary:

An opportunity for an experienced Firmware Design Engineer to join our exciting and innovative electronics engineering team. This role will require the individual to input to product design, improvements and innovation, producing cutting edge firmware and FPGA designs for global use in the arena of pipeline inspection tools. The basis of the hardware is parallel high-performance computers based on microprocessors, DSPs, and FPGAs.

Essential Responsibilities:

In the role of Engineer-Electrical Engineering (Process & Pipeline Services), you will:
  • Develop system level solutions to complex electronic design and signal processing problems
  • Design state-of-the-art algorithms to process pipeline inspection equipment signals
  • Develop signal processing firmware and implement such algorithms in FPGAs and DSPs
  • Develop firmware in "C" and VHDL for embedded systems
  • Ensure design and development of products that satisfy customers' technical requirements and meet both time-scale and budgetary constraints
  • Accountability for quality, safety and fitness for purpose
  • Produce high quality product documentation according to ISO 9000
  • Work closely with other Electronic, Mechanical and Software Engineers to produce state-of-the-art systems
  • Support external customers and internal functions (sales, sourcing, service)
  • Pro-Actively stay in touch with global distributed design teams
  • Conduct code and design reviews on request

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electronics Engineering or Computer Science from an accredited college or university
  • Minimum 5 years of proven project design experience

Desired Characteristics:

  • Experience in Embedded Linux, driver and kernel development as well as user space development
  • Experience in digital signal processing, design of filters and algorithms for signal processing
  • Six Sigma Green Belt
  • Knowledge of Oil & Gas industry applications
  • Demonstrable experience in the design of complex FPGAs and associated test-benches using VHDL
  • Demonstrable experience in programming in C for real time applications
  • Basic knowledge of statistical methods of communications engineering
  • Knowledge of serial interfaces and protocols (e.g. CAN, Ethernet, LVDS and others)
  • Knowledge of digital hardware
  • Experience in the use of laboratory equipment, environmental, and in-field test equipment
  • Experienced in working in a formal design environment with a version control system
  • Ability to work in a global, fast moving team Enthusiasm for leading-edge technology
  • Fluency in English
