Role Summary/Purpose

The Baker Hughes process and pipeline group is looking for a dynamic individual that it is enthusiastic and self-motivated. The successful candidate will be working with a team of other engineers, physicists, and mathematicians in our data science team. They will be working with large data related to the Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) inspection of pipelines inspection. Work will be independent but also collaboratively locally and globally contributing the success of the group.

Essential Responsibilities:

In the role of Engineer-Physicist, you will:
  • Process and analyze large data related to the inspection of pipelines
  • Develop algorithms using signal processing, statistical analysis, and machine learning
  • Participate in interdisciplinary teamwork with, for example, the integration of algorithms into our software applications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Physics, or Math from an accredited college or university
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in engineering, physics, academic or research environment

Desired Characteristics:
  • Master's Degree in Engineering, Physics, or Math from an accredited college or university
  • Experience in a R&D environment or related field
  • Demonstrable skills in the area of applied statistics and data mining
  • Experience with at least one programming language (e.g. Python, C / C ++ or Java)
  • Experience working scientific programming language MATLAB/R
  • Integrating data from new sensor technologies into analysis process
  • Experience with physical modeling for the evaluation and optimization of sensor systems
  • Experience with one type of NDT method either MFL or Ultrasonic would be considered an asset.
  • High level of analytical thinking and high capability of abstraction as well as an open mind set for new approaches
