- Operate the rig's crane in a safe and efficient manner and in accordance to Company Policies and Procedures
- Regularly perform Preventative Maintenance on cranes and components
REPORTING: Reports to the Barge Supervisor, Deck Pusher, Chief Mate or Toolpusher/Tourpusher SUPERVISION: Supervises the Assistant Crane Operator and Roustabout PREREQUISITES / QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma or equivalent. Work experience and demonstrated ability of oral and written communications may be substituted in lieu of formal education Valid medical examination and vaccination certificates DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Operations/Maintenance: - Provide Roustabouts with relevant instructions for current and forthcoming operations - Authority I - Partake in pre-tour meeting prior to all non-routine deck operations - Authority I - Inspect all lifting equipment prior to use, i.e. slings, straps, shackles, wire ropes, etc - Authority I - Ensure lifted loads are clear of obstructions, balanced, and properly secured with tag lines - Authority I - Operate the crane as required for running casing/riser, picking up or laying down tubular, placement of equipment and supplies, etc - Authority II - Operate the crane as required for transferring personnel and materials to and from supply boats - Authority II - Act as Helicopter Landing Officer supervising the transit of passengers, baggage, freight and refueling operations - Authority III - Notify the supervisor prior to lifting or transferring heavy equipment or materials that may affect the rig's stability - Authority I - Assist during rig moves and anchor running and retrieving operations as directed - Authority III - Assist with the replacement and installation of mooring lines and bulk fill lines - Authority II - Perform safety inspection on gauges, indicators, limit switches, cables, electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic systems in cranes - Authority II - Carry out Preventive Maintenance tasks on the cranes and components equipment. Maintain log of all maintenance records - Authority II - Ensure decks and work area are organized for efficient and safe operation - Authority II - Assist in keeping a running inventory of slings and lifting equipment in use. Inform supervisor of shortages or damaged slings - Authority I - Assist the Subsea department in the running and retrieval of BOPs and auxiliary equipment - Authority III - Assist third party service personnel in picking up and moving equipment for special operations - Authority III - Maintain good communication with the Roustabouts, Deck Pusher and Barge Supervisor - Authority I - Assist to maintain accurate records of all equipment loaded onto and off the rig - Authority II QHSE: - - Incorporate the THINK process into all tasks, whether working alone or as part of a team - Authority I - Participate in the START Process - Authority I - Ensure subordinate personnel are properly trained in the START process - Authority I - Call a Time Out for Safety (TOFS) whenever an unplanned hazard or a change in the expected results is observed - Authority I - Assist during safety drills and emergency situations as per designation on station bill - Authority I - Ensure all tools and equipment are properly stowed when not in use - promptly clean up spills and accumulated wastes, and take all necessary measures to eliminate trip hazards - Authority II - Observe proper rig operating procedures. Report unsafe practices, any incidents, potential hazards or abnormal situation to supervisor - Authority I - Actively participate in the weekly safety meeting and other safety management system issues - Authority I Personnel: - - Meet the training requirements according to the applicable training matrix - Authority I - Participate fully in the annual performance appraisal process - Authority I - Mentor, develop and train crew members to ensure they are competent work at their next job level. Training to include, but not limited to, proper rigging, materials handling and techniques, and painting procedures - Authority II - Recommend promotion or disciplinary action up to and including discharge - Authority II
