Role Summary:

The Consolidated Requisition Engineer is responsible for the development of safety valve & related products for the Flow & Process Technologies division of Baker Hughes, a GE company. Activities will include providing technical expertise to create bill of materials and detailed specifications to purchase materials/parts and to machine/assemble/test for safety valves. This role includes the solving of engineering problems, development of one-off designs, creation and review of Computer Aided Design (CAD) models/drawings for valve components and assemblies, generate bills of materials, develop test plans, contract review, project management and other related engineering duties.

Essential Responsibilities:

As a Mechanical Requisition Engineer within the Engineering/Technology function, the focus of your responsibility will be to review customer contracts and specifications and translate into Engineering instructions for Bill of Material. You will be the primary engineering team member on customer orders / projects given to you and will support all functions of the business as it is related to the project. In addition to contract/project duties, you will support other functions (supply chain, other global engineering departments, aftermarket, etc.) as needed. This role is within the Global Design Office and Center of Excellence for the Consolidated Product Line. In the role of Mechanical Requisition Engineer, you will:
  • Work with Project Management to clearly establish project timeline and customer expectations to supply chain
  • Be responsible for working with internal & external customers to deliver products that meet customer and factory objectives
  • Author or co-author updates to engineering procedures, guidelines, and processes
  • Conduct design reviews with assistance of Controlled Title Engineers and Sr. Engineers as appropriate
  • Work independently and/or collaboratively on projects as needed with other members of the Requisition Team
  • Perform Material Review Board to disposition Non-Conformance Reports
  • Drive continuous improvement and simplification projects that eliminate waste and increase productivity
  • Support local planning, manufacturing, and global sourcing organizations during product fulfillment
  • Coordinate and control the activities performed by external resources related to the assigned job
  • Support other GE engineering organizations (Sustaining/New Product Introduction) as appropriate

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent from an accredited college or university

  • Knowledge of ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code Sections I, II, and VIII
  • Previous project management experience
  • Knowledge of ASME B16.34, B16.5 and other related codes and standards
  • Able to read and interpret drawings
  • Knowledge of materials (carbon / stainless / alloy exotic steels) and their applications
  • Knowledge of mechanical engineering principles including fluid flow, heat transfer, and strengths of materials
  • Knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerance as it relates to individual parts and overall assemblies (ASME Y14.5)
  • Quick learner and willing trainee
  • Extensive knowledge of MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, Power Point etc.)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to lead and influence others without alienation
  • Experience presenting and explaining engineering concepts to non-engineering functions and customers
  • Experience gathering and preparing department and team metrics for performance, workload review and forecasting
