Job summary/Role description

The Field Engineer (FiE) will cooperate with the Field Engineering Manager (FEM) in the coordination of the engineering team moved on site, in order to assist the supervisors' group of Construction (CONST) during the erection phase, specifically for steel structures.

Duties and responsibilities

  • To assist FEM in the enforcement of technical updates (if necessary) concerning the steel structures during erection, in coordination with the main office, in compliance with the contractual technical requirements.
  • To control and handle the site engineering updates, in order to minimize the impact of timing and costs on the project.
  • To assist FEM in handling site queries and site material approval activities concerning the steel structures.
  • To coordinate the steel works design on site based on the data received from other disciplines (Layout & Piping, Electrical, Instrumentation, Utilities/ Power Process, Design HSE, Mechanical, Design & Utilities/Power Process, HVAC etc.);
  • To check and approve the late vendor's documents (erection and shop dwg. list of materials, 3D model etc.);
  • To assist FEM in the global technical coordination of the several engineering developing centres in the project (especially main office and site, but also others that are involved with the group's companies, subcontractors, vendors, partners).
  • To cooperate with PEM and FEM to provide feedback to the chief of the department concerning the problems that may occur during the application of standard procedures and instructions, in order to improve the department's efficiency;
  • To track the department's developments and progress.

Knowledge & Qualifications

• A master's degree in civil engineering is preferred

• An expert in TEKLA Structure software for modelling and development purpose

• An expert in AutoCad 2D drawings for modifying documents and in Autodesk Navisworks for clash detection

• Experienced in coordinating international Steel Vendor suppliers or Steel Mechanical Subcontractors, distributed in different locations (engineering centers or site)

• Fluent in English (speaking and writing); knowledge of Italian is a plus

• Available for travel, both short and long trips

Experience

  • 5-10 years of experience in steel vendor coordination or steel field engineering, preferably in plant engineering companies in petrochemical, oil & gas, power
