Role Summary:

This Account Manager opening offers a great opportunity to continue a professional chemical sales career in the Baytown, Texas area. This position manages all aspects of chemical applications within a specified area of the refinery account. Employee will assist the site lead in attaining sales goals, training and development of team members, and the direction of technician efforts.

In this role, the successful candidate will build relationships and engage with multiple levels of the customer's organization. Employee will communicate value delivered by existing programs, and identify new technical solutions to meet the product quality and operational needs of the customer.

Essential Responsibilities:
  • Builds strong relationships with customers through value-selling and entertainment.
  • Communicate and discuss weekly service reports to customers
  • Customer presentations documenting value delivered by BH products and services
  • Learn Baker Hughes product and services technologies.
  • Manage existing refinery chemical business for a specified area
  • Promote continuous improvement and innovation projects
  • Identify and close new sales growth opportunities
  • Provide routine Process and Water chemical support and services
  • Manage chemical inventory, deliveries, transfers, and usages
  • Perform Job Safety Assessments
  • Forklift operation
  • Interfaces across the internal organization
  • Perform routine laboratory analytical testing
  • Work and act in a safe and deliberate manner to ensure HSE compliance at all times
  • Being On-Call, with appropriate proximity to customer location
  • Will include handling special projects as assigned


  • Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering or another appropriate B.S. Degree
  • 4 years of experience managing refinery process chemicals
  • Ability to obtain a TWIC card, and maintain Drug & Alcohol policy compliance
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • Expertise in Microsoft Excel, and other Office Programs
  • Familiarity accessing data in process control software (e.g. Aspen, PI)

Desired Characteristics:
  • Experience with bidding process and chemical vendor transitions
  • People management and development experience
  • 5+ years refinery chemical sales and service experience
  • Financial management or P&L management experience
  • Contract negotiating experience
  • B.S. degree in Chemical Engineering or Chemistry
  • TWIC card, forklift certification
  • Strong mechanical aptitude
