Role Summary:

The Lead Customs Specialist - Auditing North America, will drive strict compliance to all US and Canadian import and export regulations and requirements as it relates to the audit of importation and exportation processes of goods and technology. This position will provide audit management for the import / export transactions in the region, including identification, root cause analysis and driving improvement solutions for issues impacting the efficient movement and cost management of goods across US and Canadian borders.

Essential Responsibilities:

In the role of Lead Customs Specialist - Auditing North America, you will:
  • Audit US and Canada import, export, and customs broker billing invoice documentation utilizing the Baker Hughes audit process policies
  • Complete and submit monthly audit reports as per the pre-defined audit schedule
  • Provide visibility to issues identified during the audit process - identify trends and opportunities for improvement through reporting, analysis, and communication
  • Recommend process, procedure, and operational improvements - take ownership where applicable or delegate as needed
  • Drive improvement opportunities through project management, training, communications, process improvement, and systems enhancements
  • Utilize six sigma and LEAN processes to manage improvement opportunities
  • Communicate effectively with all levels of support and management in Customs COE, Process COE, Global Trade Compliance, customs brokers, logistics providers, business units, Logistics, factories, and service operations
  • Provide backup support to North America Customs COE organization in resolving daily inquiries regarding import and export shipments. Help to prepare export & import documentation when necessary
  • Contribute to team management of customs compliance and operational excellence - provide support through analytical methods, technical expertise, and functional efficiency

Qualifications/Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university
  • Minimum 3 years of experience working with trade compliance, import / export operations and international logistics
  • Minimum 2 years of experience performing audit support
  • Minimum 2 years of experience using PC-based trade compliance systems and trade content services

Desired Characteristics:
  • Experience working in a team-based global environment
  • Experience working in oil & gas industry
  • Demonstrated expertise in project management
  • Six Sigma certified
  • Customs broker's license
