You are a Software Engineering Lead who works as a senior member within a team to provide innovative, custom built software to BP colleagues and external users. This custom software either supports revenue earning activity or helps reduce costs within BP functions by automating manual activity. About the role

As a Software Engineering Lead with us, you'll manage a team of business analysts and software engineers. You'll develop their capabilities and ensure they deliver agile solutions that meet our ever-changing and challenging business needs. You'll aim to continuously improve business delivery processes and support the performance and development of each employee in your team - supporting them with a diplomatic attitude and cultural sensitivity.

In this role, you'll explore, think and do. That means exploring new opportunities for you or your team members to progress. It means leading technical thinking across a wide range of technologies. It means using your strong coding abilities to develop responsive web applications and mobile apps that go beyond just the one language. It means using your understanding of micro services and cloud environments to implement continuous integration, unit testing, test automation and behaviour driven development. And it means building strong relationships with internal and external partners - responding to their needs.

About You

Taking on a managerial role at bp means having a broad knowledge of your area. For you, that means understanding modern development methodologies, dev ops practices and techniques, as well as design and automation environments.

Alongside a degree in a related subject, you'll need to have solid skills in management, software development, system design, data analysis and communication. But beyond this, you're all about your team - on a deeper level. You always look to empower them, evolve them, professionally and personally, and you inspire them with your open and supportive nature.

What we are looking for
  • Solid experience building responsive web applications and mobile apps using sophisticated JavaScript libraries and modern frameworks such as ReactJS and AngularJS.
  • Development experience for both mobile and desktop applications
  • Proficiency with server-side languages such as Java, .NET, Python, etc.
  • Knowledge of REST architectures and API design.
  • Understanding and experience with Microservices and cloud environments (Microsoft Azure or AWS)
  • Experience in continuous delivery and continuous integration (such as Jenkins or Azure DevOps deployment pipeline), unit testing, test automation and behavior driven development (with JBehave or similar).
