Our client, a large oil and gas company, is currently seeking a Risk analyst to work a 6 month contract based in Calgary

 
Risk Analyst

Responsibilities

  • Analyze and publish the daily risk management exposure reports, profit and loss report, and related reporting requirements for the companies trading activity
  • Administer risk governance policies and standards for the trading business
  • Operate as the main day-to-day risk function contact person for the gas & power trading desk team
  • Collaborate across our functions to support growth of new business initiatives
  • Look for continuous improvement opportunities in processes and systems
Qualifcations

  • Several years of Oil and Gas industry experience
  • A University degree, preferably in Business, Economics, Mathematics or Computer Science
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (e.g. complex formulae, macros etc.)
  • Proven social skills, as well as strong verbal and written communication skills which allows you to build strong, positive relationships
  • A high level of intellectual curiosity for understanding commodity compliance, finance, and commerce

Preference for:

  • Experience in a trading environment
  • Experience in a large organization with complex operations and a strong sophisticated control environment
  • A finance designation (CFA, FRM, ERP, PRM)
  • Strong knowledge of Power BI, SQL, and VBA
  • Knowledge of Energy Trading Risk Management systems (e.g. Commodity XL, Open Link, Allegro)
  • Basic knowledge of risk management concepts and the trading cycle
  • Proficiency with analyzing complex sets of data, and the ability to independently problem solve
