Role Summary:

The Senior Physicist Research & Development (R&D) will be working as part of multidisciplinary teams developing state of the art technologies.

Members of Reuter Stokes multidisciplinary teams apply experimental and computational methods to the development of new products for energy and security industries.

Essential Responsibilities:

In the role of Research & Development (R&D) Physicist, you will:
  • Work as an integral member of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Perform advanced R&D work with new and emerging sensing and inspection technologies
  • Perform advanced modelling, testing, and development of prototype systems, new algorithms and procedures, including development of relevant documents
  • Document work products in written form, e.g. technical notes, design specifications, journal publications
  • Present work achievements to the team, and when appropriate to the scientific community at technical conferences

Qualifications/Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Physics, Chemistry, Nuclear Engineering, or Material Science from an accredited college or university
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in Research & Development within an Industrial Environment
Eligibility Requirements:
  • Travel 15% of the time, as required

Desired Characteristics:
  • Master's Degree in Physics, Chemistry, Nuclear Engineering, or Material Science from an accredited college or university with a minimum 5 years of experience in Research & Development within an Industrial Environment
  • Technical experience in nuclear physics or radiation detection is highly desirable
  • Ability to solve problems of interest, exercising personal initiative to guide your own and others' efforts
  • Contribute to one or more of the related tasks: leading experimental design and analysis, coordinate with model development efforts, data evaluation, and test validation
  • Continue to expand your technical knowledge
  • Develop and demonstrate generalist capabilities in solving problems
  • Work with a wide variety of colleagues with varying backgrounds across Reuter Stokes and Baker Hughes on research covering multiple physics areas in order to solve difficult problems
  • Strong problem-solving and technical skills and the ability to contribute in multi-discipline engineering teams
  • Good communication, organizational and interpersonal skills to report and present material
  • Experience and success with basic and applied research to support new product development
  • Experience analyzing and/or conducting experiments
  • Excellent data driven analytical skills
  • Knowledge and experience relative to uncertainty and/or risk analysis
  • Excellent judgment and decision making ability
  • History of technical contributions to one or more of the following fields:
    • Nuclear physics
    • Fluid dynamics
    • Chemistry
    • Particle physics
    • Materials science
