At IT&S, all the roles are within Chapters. While your role will continue to remain within the Chapter, your initial activities described below may change over time. The chapter will be based on your skill set and will be confirmed if you are the successful candidate.Role Synopsis:
You are a Software Engineering Specialist who works within a team to provide innovative, custom built software to BP colleagues and external users. This custom software either supports revenue earning activity or helps reduce costs within BP functions by automating manual activity. Ultimately, this work will help us become a digital leader in our sector, so we can drive energy transition and solve real-world problems.

You will work within an agile delivery squad initially focused on delivering a global Retail site transformation to bring our store operation to the next level.
This role will interact directly with our customers, development teams, business product owners and 3rd party vendors.
If you have experience in fuel and/or convenience retail store operations and can adapt and deliver solutions meeting the demand in the marketplace, automate and optimize the in-shop and backend processes and always attempting to use digital technology to drive efficiency, come join our team!

You will be based at our Sunbury on Thames offices in Surrey but there will be regular travel required to other BP offices.

Key Accountabilities:

Software Engineering: You will develop the capabilities of your team of software engineers and business analysts to help them create commercially cost-effective solutions. You will help design, test and operate custom built or customised IT solutions aimed at improving business delivery processes. You will act in accordance with professional engineering practices, including Internet protocols, coding standards and reviews, source control management, design and operations processes.
Technology: You will build awareness of internal and external technology developments, managing the delivery of process and system improvements, identifying and implementing continuous improvement plans for and ensuring best practice is shared across the team.
Safety and Compliance: Safety of our people and our customers is our highest priority. We will advocate and help ensure our architectures, designs and processes enhance a culture of operational safety and improve our digital security.

Experience and Capability:
  • Programming/Software Development, experience required in C#, Java or Kotlin
  • Building Android Apps to allow enterprise level applications on retail site mobile devices,
  • Firm understanding of Mulesoft and how to transform from classic integration to an API lead design
  • Firm understanding on the Office365 application set and how to use it to automate processes and build apps to drive process efficiencies and data insights
