Our Client is looking for a SAP Lead, on a contract basis, location in Aberdeen.


  • Responsible for SAP Governance and Coordination within the affiliate as well as ensuring full SOX compliance for IS related controls. The SAP Coordination team is responsible for supporting our customers in the use of SAP (including SAPHR), coordinating the resolution of bugs and managing the delivery of functional enhancements affecting the UK customer base.
  • In addition, the SAP Coordination Team Lead shall ensure the successful delivery of local projects that are associated with the SAP environment and functional areas as well as the support of all SAP interfaces.
  • The job holder manages the full software lifecycle: Business analysis and consultancy, application development (where relevant), implementation and support, project management and translating business requirements/processes into structured, supportable solutions. It is the job-holders responsibility to ensure that resources are deployed in the manner that satisfies user requirements within given SLA and budgetary constraints.
  • It is the job-holder's responsibility to ensure that cost effective, consistent, robust and reliable solutions are implemented and maintained, by wherever possible exploiting existing information and applications.
  • The job holder should have experience in leading a team within the SAP domain and have experience in managing and coordinating a diverse SAP community, dealing with senior management and working within a global template.


  • Ensure an effective SAP Coordination service for the affiliate
  • Establish and maintain strong SAP Governance within the affiliate ensuring close collaboration with global métier and support teams.
  • Effectively lead a team of skilled business analysts (staff & contractors) ensuring obligations are met.
  • Take responsibility and project manage significant IS/Business related projects (as an example, SAP migrations, divestments, interface upgrades) throughout the year, managing the functional analysis to ensure that they are implemented on time and on budget realising the benefits envisaged.
  • Responsible for IS business analysis, business case, project management, solution design/architecture & consultancy services to the whole organisation.
  • Assist in preparation of relevant IS strategic plans and budgets working closely with Business Process Owners, Key and Lead users providing necessary direction to the Business as required.
  • Negotiate independently with third parties to ensure cost effective, consistent, robust and reliable solutions are implemented and maintained to the quality and SLA's agreed.
  • Responsible for piloting HQ Service offerings for the company ensuring best possible service is delivered.
  • Responsible for the provision of SAP HR Functional support working with relevant 3rd party providers ensuring best possible service is delivered.
  • Contract Representative for major IS support contracts
  • Ensure that system integrity is maintained by following and ensuring compliance with agreed standards & procedures
  • Maintain customers' business processes with minimal operational impact
  • Ensure that support teams adhere to defined procedures regarding Sarbanes Oxley (SOX) compliance and actively contribute to SOX process - for SAP related activities.
  • Ensure obligations are met with regards to SAP Training, SAP User Information forums, SAP Documentation and SOX administration.
  • Review change/enhancement requests to ensure there is a business justification and that they are cost effective and technically sound (whilst minimising the amount of bespoke development). Follows change control process.
  • Manage and prioritise workload to focus on activities that add value or minimise potential negative impact to the business.
  • Coaching and mentoring team and project members to ensure they reach full potential.
  • Identify and promote ways in which processes, procedures and IS can be changed or adapted to achieve improvements in the cost effectiveness and quality of its operation.
  • Communicate effectively at all levels (including senior management), internally and externally.
  • Delegates for Head of Section.
  • Actively manage the company application portfolio within relevant functional domains ensuring the correct licensing, support contracts and maintenance is in place.
  • Nominates single point of contact within team for each business applications ensuring that the roadmap for system evolution and the necessary support and maintenance agreements are in place.


  • High level of company / business knowledge and ability to understand and analyse a wide range of complex business processes.
  • Extensive knowledge within the SAP domain, plus other related key technologies
  • Knowledge of key business processes (Asset Integrity, Maintenance and Inspection, Human Resources, Contracts, Procurement, Logistics, Finance)
  • Awareness of all IS processes
  • Knowledge of other parts of IS & how they impact upon delivery of application service to customers
  • Ability to utilise Group and external networks as required
  • Ability to manage team and plan and take decisions in a mid/long term perspective.
