Role Summary:

Baker Hughes has an opening for a Production Leader at our Pine Island manufacturing facility in Hempstead, TX. The Production Manager demonstrates accountability for ensuring efficient, timely and cost effective manufacturing and delivery of high quality products, in a lean driven environment. The Production Leader will foster a culture of continuous improvement and will develop strong relationships at all levels of the organization.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • The Production Manager will follow the overall vision for the plant, lead change, drive execution and maintain a culture that prioritizes safety, customer satisfaction, and the highest quality.
  • Main manufacturing responsibilities include:
    • Assembly cartridges
    • Assembly of perforating gun kits
    • Responsible for loading of perforating guns
  • Provide HSE leadership by driving 6S housekeeping, health & safety framework score improvement, training completion, audit item closure, and HSE culture.
  • Drive Quality improvements across the entire plant
  • Deliver plant cost / hour goals
  • Assist in developing plant leadership and technical expertise
  • Promote the use of six sigma methodology in driving plant quality improvements
  • Utilize, lead, and support lean manufacturing methods to reduce cycle times and inventory levels
  • Drive digitization initiatives / brilliant factory improvements
  • Assist in developing the plant budget and control spending to budget levels
  • Assist in developing and executing capital investment plans
  • Assist in executing an effective communication plan for the facility


  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Supply Chain Management from an accredited college or university
  • Minimum 10 years of in manufacturing positions including 5 years of experience in manufacturing leadership roles and/or manufacturing Project Management / Lean Continuous Improvement
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent problem solving skills
  • Comprehensive knowledge of manufacturing principles, concepts, theories and practices of area of responsibility

Desired Characteristics:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Supply Chain Management from an accredited college or university
  • Exposure to and participation in lean manufacturing initiatives
  • Experience with new Product/Technology Introductions
  • Six Sigma / Lean training
  • Strong oral and written communications skills
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Ability to establish cross-functional connections within a matrix organization
  • Strong understanding of SAP preferred
  • Must be at least 21 years old and meet all ATF, State and other applicable regulations in reference to handling hazardous material such as receiving, storing, and delivery of explosives.
